AALIYAH TAYLOR
|||
I GROANED AS the sun shone through the curtains, hitting my face. My alarm went off and I groaned again. The alarm clock was rude, so very rude. From the middle of the most wonderful dream, I was brought sharply into focus. I sat up slowly, directing my attention towards my phone; the source of the noise. After the initial anger passed, my frustrations at this inanimate clock who would never grant me the courtesy of an apology, I breathed long and slow. I reached over and grabbed my phone off of the nightstand, shutting off my alarm. I sighed, enjoying the silence that came after.
I finally dragged myself out of bed and opened my curtains to allow some more sunlight in. I made my way to the washroom, and turned on the shower; allowing the water to warm up. Once the water was at the perfect temperature I stripped out of my clothes and stepped into the shower. I sighed contently as the warm water hit my tense body. Beyoncé blared throughout the washroom, giving me the energy I desperately needed. I continued with my hygiene routine, taking longer in the shower than needed.
When I was back in my room, I applied lotion to my skin and picked out an outfit for the day. After twenty minutes of rummaging through my drawers, I finally decided on a black pencil skirt, a lilac blouse and a black pair of heels. I pulled my hair into a low bun before I grabbed my purse and rushed out of my apartment, forgetting about breakfast.
The elevator ride down to the main floor was quiet, which I didn't mind. I walked through the lobby and was greeted by the building security. I rushed out of the building and made my way to my white Honda Accord.
I drove in a daze, unable to swallow the fact that I had gotten a job interview with Braxton Enterprises. Many people had applied for a job there, and only some got calls back. I just so happened to be one of those lucky people.
My heart race began to accelerate as the humongous building came into my vision. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down, but it wasn't working. I found a parking spot and got out of my car, rushing to the front doors of the building. The automatic doors opened, and I walked into the lobby, confidently. My heels clicked against the marble floors as I took slow, steady strides to the front desk.
The receptionist looked up at me as I neared the desk. She stared at me, disgust visible in her eyes. I flashed her my best million dollar smile, to which she returned a fake one.
"Good morning, how may I help you?" She asked in a perky tone.
"I'm here for an interview. With Mr. Braxton." I stated confidently.
She eyed me cautiously before she nodded and opened a folder. She slowly went through the folder, her eyes reading each name carefully.
"You must be Aaliyah Taylor. You're right on time, Mr. Braxton will appreciate that. Follow me." The receptionist said.
The receptionist quickly rose from her seat, fixing her white pencil skirt as she walked over to me. She lead me to the elevator, where she offered me a tight-lipped smile.
"Mr. Braxton's office is on the seventeenth floor. First door to the left. Please, knock before entering his office." She informed me as the elevator doors opened.
I hummed, nodding my head.
"Good luck." The woman said before walking away.
With one last glance at the woman, I walked into the elevator. I pressed the button for the seventeenth floor, waiting patiently for the doors to close. I found myself biting my fingernails involuntarily. The elevator doors suddenly opened with a ding and I forced my hand away from my mouth. Taking a deep breath, I slowly walked out of the elevator. I began to walk down the long hallway. Finally, I came to the first door on my left.
It was a tall, ostensibly simple wooden door. A beautiful, gold name plate was mounted onto the door. I studied the plate carefully, reading the name engraved into the gold.
Reid Braxton.
A few seconds passed before I realized I was still standing outside of the office. My heart began to race as I realized that the man who could potentially be my new boss was sitting on the other side of the door.
"This is it." I whispered to myself as I knocked on the door.
"Come in." A voice rumbled and I took a deep breath before pushing the door open.
A small smile graced my face as I took a step into the office.
"Good morning, Mr. Braxton." I greeted calmly, and he looked up at me.
His eyes widened a bit as he took in my appearance. I took a few seconds to look him over as well.
His hair was dark brown, some strands lighter than the others. He had these beautiful light brown eyes; which reminded me of caramel. His figure was a bit smaller than his chair, but he had an athletic build. He was handsome, a simple understatement.
However, I wasn't here to dwell on his looks.
Forcing myself out of this trance, I cleared my throat. His eyes snapped up to mine, and he offered me a small smile.
"Good morning, Ms. Taylor. Please, take a seat." He said, gesturing for me to sit down.
His eyes never left me as I gracefully sat down in the chair opposite of him, on the other side of the desk. I looked around the office. It was a blend of black and white. The rugs were puffy and soft, from what I could feel through my heels. The desk stretched almost the entire width of the room. A few paintings lined the wall on the right side of the room.
"You're on time. I like that. But please, don't let me bore you. Tell me about yourself." He said and I focused my attention back on him.
"Well, I'm twenty-two years old, and I graduated from university with a bachelors degree in business-."
"I'm sorry for interrupting, but you want to work as a personal assistant? While you have a bachelors degree in business?" Mr. Braxton asked, astonished.
"With all due respect, I've done my research and I know that this is a high paying job, Mr. Braxton."
"Point taken, carry on." He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms.
"I have a recommendation in Mathematics and Economics and I am dedicated and headstrong. I do not lack stamina. If there's work to do, I'm the one to get it done, and I don't mind spending extra hours towards the completion of any project."
There was a short period of silence. Neither of us spoke. We just sat there, staring at each other.
"Well, you've done your research and you are qualified for the job. Not only that, but I think you may be a valuable asset to my company." Mr. Braxton finally spoke, breaking the tranquility.
I offered Mr. Braxton a smile, hoping that his next words were the very words I longed to hear.
"You've got the job! Welcome to the team, Ms. Taylor."

hello, my fellow wattpad users! welcome to (or welcome back, for all of my returning readers) to my first ever novel, his chocolate sin. i have a few things to say-only because we are at the start of the book.
the first thing i'd like to say is that chapters 1-19 have been rewritten. i was not happy with the way some of these chapters turned out originally. i believed the original chapters didn't showcase my potential as a writer, so i decided to restart. i've grown as a writer, and i wanted to share my new ideas with you all.
secondly, there are no changes to the cast. all cast members are the same. however, the cast is not complete, so as the story goes on, i'll be adding more characters.
thirdly, i understand that waiting for updates is annoying, so i will try to update once a week. in any case i cannot update, i'll be sure to let you all know!
lastly, i'd like to thank my returning readers for all the support. you guys encouraged me to keep on writing even when i didn't want to. i know, i unpublished the book unexpectedly, but thank you all for sticking with me.
as for my new readers, i hope you all enjoy this book as much as i enjoyed writing it!
i feel as if i've said enough, so until the next chapter.
