I
"So you killed her?"
"I don't know. I just woke up. And I was sweating like crazy, and I couldn't breathe."
"That's exactly how I felt after having that dream about Derek's sister," I comment, pulling both straps of my backpack over my shoulders.
"I don't think I've ever had a dream where I woke up like that."
"Really? I have. Usually ends a little differently." Stiles says; my nose wrinkles.
"Stiles, your dreams about Lydia don't count," He glares at me as Scott tries to hold back laughter.
"I meant I've never had a dream that felt that real." We turn the corner; I almost knock into Isaac as he kneels at his locker but catch myself and mutter an apology. "And never give me that much detail about you in bed ever again."
"Noted, but lemme take a guess here though—"
"No, I know, you think it has something to do with me going out with Allison tomorrow. Like I'm gonna lose control and rip her throat out."
"No, of course not... Yeah, that's totally it."
Scott nods, his head hung low. "Hey, come on, it's gonna be fine, alright? Personally, I think you're handling this pretty freakin' amazingly."
"Yeah," I agree, "You were able to pull it back during the game even when you were cornered."
"Plus, it's not like there's a Lycanthropy for Beginners class you can take," Stiles adds but Scott shrugs.
"Not a class, but maybe a teacher."
"Who, Derek?" He slaps Scott upside his head. "You forgetting the part where we got him tossed in jail?"
"I'm with Scott this time. We don't know what the hell we're doing, Stiles, and the internet isn't going to have all the answers."
He scoffs. "Are you serious, Wes? We've figured this out so far, haven't we?"
I huff, but Scott interjects. "Look, you've both been doing your best but chasing her, dragging her back onto the bus; it felt so real."
"How real?"
"Like it actually happened."
We continue down the wide hallway and toward the gray double doors that lead to the backside of the school. I push open the right door, the three of us pour out of the building before my hand begins to shake uncontrollably. Bright, yellow police tape surrounds a bright yellow bus, and blood is splattered all over the vehicle's interior and exterior. The back door is bent completely to hell with a long gash, most likely from claws, embroidered under the handle.
"I think it did."
Scott whips around and back into the building as Stiles and I follow, my hand still shaking nonstop as I watch the former furiously tapping against his phone.
"She's probably fine."
"She's not answering my texts, Stiles." Scott's frustration sends a deep fear plummeting to the pits of my stomach like an Olympic diver plunging off of the highest platform.
"You know it could just be a coincidence, alright?" Stiles says; I ignore him, helping Scott as he scours every female face. "A seriously amazing coincidence."
"Just help us find her, okay?"
"Do you see her?"
"No."
