"Oh!" The crowd winces as another player gets brutally knocked down by the monstrosity that is Eddie.
"Come on! Is that thing even a teenager? I want to see a birth certificate!" Coach yells before sitting next to Stiles and me. "Who or what is that genetic experiment gone wrong?"
"Eddie Obomowitz, Coach. They call him The Abomination."
"Oh, that's cute."
Stiles hits me on the arm before motioning to where Allison and her grandfather sit, causing me to nod as he gets up.
I realign my focus on the game as the ref blows the whistle, but not even a second after the play begins, The Abomination has already smashed two players into the ground before shooting for the goal.
I watch as a player cries out in pain while being carried away on a gurney before Coach sits Danny next to me, an ice-pack on his head.
Coach puts up two fingers. "How many fingers am I holding up?"
"Four."
"Say two."
"Two."
Coach slaps him on the shoulder and gives him a lacrosse stick as Danny rises shakily. "Perfect. Get out there, come on. Get out there and have a stick."
"You're still short one player!" One of the Refs calls out, causing Coach to freak out a little before glancing around, his eyes landing on me.
"Walter!"
"It's Walker."
"That's what I said, now get your ass on the field!"
"But, I've never really played and I--" I try to protest, but Coach has already shoved a stick into my hands and is pushing me onto the field.
As the Ref blows his whistle, The Abomination charges forward, the ball in the pocket of his lacrosse stick. All of the other players move out of his way. All of them but me. It's not by choice, though, as I'm practically frozen as fear rushes through my body.
Oh, I'm so gonna die. Red or white roses? I think red will match my casket better. I'm not even going to need a casket, he's literally going to bury me into the dirt right here.
My head begins to pound as I take a deep breath before my mind goes blank as I watch Eddie's every move. He tries to ram into me, but I dig my cleats into the dirt and use all of my force to push my shoulder into his sideways-barrel sized chest, sending him tumbling to the ground.
The Ref blows his whistle as everyone stands up, cheering. I chuckle to myself, not really believing what just happened. My head snaps to where Allison is sitting as she has a mixture of excitement and confusion on her face.
"The bigger they are! The bigger. They. Are!" I hear Coach yell as Scott runs up to me.
"What was that, Wes?!"
"I- I don't know. I'm imagining what my funeral is going to look like and the next thing I know, Donkey Kong is lying unconscious at my feet."
"Yeah, well, your eyes were that blue-ish red color again."
"They're what?" I beg to panic. "Do you think anyone saw? Are they still that color?"
"Wes? Wesley, calm down. They're fine, but I don't think you should keep playing."
I nod and try to walk off the field but Coach stops me.
"What do you think you're doing?"
"I, uh, I'm sitting back on the bench?"
