Slipping inside Coach's office, Scott flips the lock on the door and turns to Stiles, Allison, and me.

"Derek's outside waiting for Lydia." Scott tells us as I drop my backpack on the floor next to Stiles'.

"Waiting to kill her?" Allison corrects.

"If he thinks she's the Kanima, then yes." Scott says, causing the three of us to sigh. "Especially after what happened in the pool."

"It's not her." Stiles defends with confidence as I rub my neck.

"I don't think he's gonna believe you. She didn't really pass the test, Stiles." I recall.

"No, it can't be her."

I don't know what to believe. All fingers point towards her, so what else could she be? She's definitely not the same thing I am, I mean I haven't blacked out and wrote cryptic messages all over the walls... yet?

Allison shakes her head. "It doesn't matter, because Derek thinks it's her."

"So either we convince him that he's wrong or we've got to figure out how to protect her." Allison continues, her growing frustration showing.

"Well, I really don't think he's gonna do anything here, not at school."

"And the other sixteen hours?" I ask, making Scott groan.

"What if we can prove Derek's wrong?" Allison tries.

Stiles scoffs. "By three o'clock?"

"There could be something in the Bestiary."

"Oh, you mean the nine hundred page book written in Archaic Latin that none of us can read? Good luck with that." Stiles jeers.

A look of realization appears on Allison's face. "Actually, I think I know someone who might be able to translate it."

Scott nods. "Uh, I can talk to Derek, maybe convince him to give us a chance to prove that it's not her."

They both look to Stiles and me as we give reluctant nods.

I turn to Allison, worry flooding my thoughts. "If anything happens, you need to let Scott know. Let him handle it, okay?"

"What does that mean?" Allison questions.

It's hard for me to accept it, but until I can figure out how to control my newfound strength, Allison's never really safe with me. I know she's not defenseless, but I can't help but think of every wrong scenario that can happen if I mess up.

"He can protect you."

Allison sits her bag on the desk and unzips it, pulling out a retractable crossbow.

"I can protect myself." I gently grab her hand, making her look at me.

"What?" She asks, noticing my concerned expression.

"Allison, I just want you to be safe, alright? I don't think I could handle you getting hurt."

"If something goes wrong, call me." Scott adds, helping me. "Call, text, yell, scream, whatever... and that goes for everyone."

Allison looks between us as she nods.

"We have until three." Scott announces before turning back for the door, but before he can, something comes flying at his head.

Spinning around, he catches a dart from Allison's crossbow just before it can hit him.

I look behind me, seeing Stiles holding the crossbow with a guilty smile on his face as Allison reaches for the weapon.
