It's All Downhill From Here

"Uh, Stiles, just turn it the other way, man."

"Oh, wow, Wes. I never would have thought of that." He retorts as I try to help rotate the present enough to push out of the backseat.

Eventually, we get it out and Stiles excitedly makes his way towards the front door. I roll my eyes and pull the Macy's bag from the front seat and catch up, quickly noticing how eerily quiet the house is for a party. I hear a grunt, making me look down at Stiles as he tries to hike the box onto his knee to press the doorbell, but he can't keep from wobbling.

I lean over and ring it for him. "There you go, man."

A few seconds later, Lydia opens the door, but I can barely see her red- I mean strawberry blonde hair with the giant box blocking my view. Stiles finally lowers it, allowing me to see Lydia's incredulous gaze as he shakes the box with a goofy grin on his face.

"Happy birthday!"

She nods slowly, holding up a tray of glasses filled with punch in her left hand. "Yeah..."

"Happy birthday, Lydia," I say, holding up my small bag with jewelry inside.

"We're coming in." He announces, trying to get in with the present but it's just too big to fit through the door frame. "Oh, whoa."

I take a step back as he begins trying to shove it in. "Can't, uh, hang on."

"You know, you don't-here just grab that side, maybe?" He asks, though she just stands there, watching as the wrapping paper begins to tear.

I scratch my head as she turns around, not wanting to deal with him anymore before shouting, "Don't forget to try the punch!"

"Maybe just-" I begin but he pushes it so hard that it falls to the ground, bringing him with it.

"I'll, uh, just go look for Allison," I say, stepping over him.

Once inside, I place her present on the main table in the foyer and head into the living room, searching for Allison. I hadn't seen her since spring break began and I really couldn't wait any longer to just see her face.

"Wes," I whip around, seeing Scott as he walks into the room. "What's up?"

I shrug, "Not much. Hey, is it still cool that I crash at your place tonight?"

"Are you kidding me? Mom wishes you would just move in." I can't help but chuckle as he peeks around the room. "Where's Stiles?"

"Uh, probably still lying on the hardwood." Scott's nose scrunches as a slight smirk appears on his lips.

"I'm here, I'm here." Stiles greets, as we migrate through the house. "So have you seen Jackson anywhere?"

Scott shakes his head. "No"

"What about Allison?"

"No, but we should tell her what we found," Stiles tells us as we turn the corner and step out onto the patio that overlooks the pool.

Scott scratches at the nape of his neck. "I'm still kind of not sure what we found."

"Well, everyone that the Kanima or its master killed were on the swim team. I mean even Isaac's dad was the coach." I explain, glancing down at the very fancy drink fountain that's pouring out punch.

"Yeah, so we figured out it has something to do with water. Especially with the way the Kanima reacted around the pool." Stiles concludes.

"So whoever's controlling the Kanima really hates the swim team?"

"Hated the swim team. Specifically, the 2006 team. So it could be another teacher. Maybe like a student back then. I mean, who are we missing? What haven't we thought of?" He wonders, but I'm not really paying attention to anything he's saying as Allison steps next to me.
