it was hot and donghyuck really needed a shower. they had just finished their dance training for their new comeback. the first time in over a year they would comeback as all seven members of dream again and so the mood was extremely light and happy.
still donghyuck did need a shower. he told his roommate johnny and the tall guy just nodded. the two had been sharing a room for quite a while now and haechan had the suspicion that they would change rooms again soon just so the dreamies would all be on the same floor. it would make sense since like that mark and haechan would not disturb the nct 127 members when they, for example, came home after a late night practice.
under the hot water donghyuck was thinking. nothing in particular, just about everything. the hot water relaxed him but it quickly turned lukewarm which indicated that someone else was also showering with hot water. even though haechan didn't mind the cooler water (because it was hot) it was still a bit annoying. the warm water had been great for his muscles.
he finished and looked at himself in the mirror. with no doubt you could see he had been doing more practice for the comeback. he still did not have abs like some of his members but you could already see the lines of the muscles on his belly. it was not only due to all the dance training but also because he did not have that much time to eat leading him to eat less. it was quite common for idols to lose weight/become thinner or more muscular while doing a comeback. donghyuck told himself to not really worry about it, he knew the fans liked him for him and not his body and he was content with that fact.
after the shower johnny informed him that they would all meet in the dining area, even the dreamies. and as donghyuck had guessed when they all sat together taeyong announced that they would mix up their rooms again. precisely the leader had said "so you all know nct dream will have their comeback soon so the managers decided to move mark and donghyuck out of our dorm into theirs. they are switching with lucas and ten."
everyone was quiet and it was evident that no one out of the 127-hyungs wanted mark or donghyuck to go but at the same time both johnny and jungwoo did seem happy about the swatch. not that they didn't like mark or donghyuck but they did like lucas and ten.
"it's fine hyungs. they are not out of this world and you know it. we did this several times already." the youngest member, jisung stated. he was right, mark and donghyuck had moved between their dorms a lot but everytime it was just a glum moment.
after the announcement everyone started chatting. donghyuck found himself with jungwoo, doyoung and renjun in a conversation. doyoung was telling the two younger boys about how jungwoo was cooking ramen and ended up leaving the kitchen on fire. donghyuck could still remember that day, it was almost similar to that one vlive accident. stuff like that happened all the time in their dorms but both him and renjun were still laughing when doyoung mimicked the panicking jungwoo.
"hyung, you should be glad you live with us. or else you maybe wouldn't be alive anymore." donghyuck laughed and hugged the older boy. the two both liked skinship a lot so it was fine by them.
slowly they all split up and donghyuck retreated to his and johnny's room to pack his things. due to all the moving that had happened before he had learned how to decorate without leaving too much stuff around so now the process of packing was fast and easy. johnny came in and offered help and donghyuck thanked his hyung. the older could easily carry his computer (that was needed for his gaming) into the other dorm.
when arriving, he saw mark also moving in his stuff so he concluded they would be sharing a room. actually in all those years they never shared a room but since they were best friends donghyuck did not see a problem with it.
"you're really bringing your gaming computer?" mark laughed when he saw johnny carrying the heavy pc into the room.
"yeah and i know you're going to ask me so many times to play with it." donghyuck answered sassily while sticking out his tongue to the other boy. johnny just giggled, he loved it when the two younger boys were play fighting like kids. it was really entertaining.
"i have my nintendo switch bro!" mark exclaimed and donghyuck mocked his words quietly so that only johnny could hear them. the tall boy laughed loudly and ruffled through donghyuck's hair.
"don't annoy him too much, aye?" he said and then added "i'll go now and see if ten needs my help. bye mark, bye donghyuck!"
and then it was just the two of them. while donghyuck was setting up his computer mark was sorting clothes into his part of the shared wardrobe. the room was small but very comfortable, donghyuck concluded. it was very similar to his old room with johnny.

there was one door leading to the bathroom and the another one leading out into the hallway.
"i'll go change." mark declared and took some of his clothes. donghyuck furrowed his eyebrows, watching as mark made his way to the bathroom. johnny had always changed in front of donghyuck so the boy said "oh, you can change here mark. it doesn't make me uncomfortable or anything."
"uhh, okay then." the older said and started to undress, hesitating at first hut then just pulling off his shirt.
donghyuck did not intend to look at him but a small sneak peek at mark gave him enough information about the others fitness. the other members were not lying when they said mark had abs. it made the younger boy a bit insecure even though he knew that neither mark nor any of the other members actually cared about donghyuck's body. as long as he was fit enough to mantain a healthy body for his performance on stage they didn't even bother.
after they both settled in they heard a knock on their door. jaemin's head appeared in the gap. "dinner is ready, jeno and noona cooked shrimp." he informed them.
"we're coming." donghyuck said and they both stood up from their beds where they had been laying before. donghyuck could not wait for the food, he was hungry and he knew how well jeno and their noona could cook. (a/n: i believe in their dorms nct sometimes have people who care and cook for them. i could be wrong but i think it was mentioned in the 24h relay vlogs)
they sat down and when donghyuck saw all that it was all seven of them together again it warmed his heart. he had missed living with these chaotic boys. mark instantly started a conversation with chenle and jisung while donghyuck asked renjun about their schedule. shortly after their noona came in and was instantly helped by jaemin and jeno to bring the food to their table.
"thanks, noona." donghyuck spoke and everyone followed him. she gave the boys a bright smile and said "no problem, eat well!" before exiting their dorm.
now it was just the seven of them and everyone was talking. even though he loved his 127-hyungs this was better than eating with them. mostly because it was easier to eat all together, in the other dorms they would often eat in groups not as a whole. donghyuck looked at them, chatting all loudly and he concluded that this was indeed his family.
