mark was a nice roommate, donghyuck concluded. they went to bed quite late yesterday because they had talked for ages after dinner and then retreated into the living room for a movie. so now in the morning nobody was up. except for mark.

he started the day by taking a shower (even though he took one yesterday too) and then proceeded to write down some lyrics. after the clock hit 8 and there was still no sign of anybody being awake he woke them up one by one. he missed seeing their sleepy faces in the morning and the quiet bickering between chenle and jisung about who got to toast their toast first. after he woke everyone up only donghyuck was left.

he slowly neared himself to the younger boy and quietly said "hyuckie, time to wake up." when that didn't work he softly shook the boy before the other opened his eyes in displease.

"what's the time?" the younger asked in a deep, sleepy voice and mark replied "twenty past eight."

"ahh, thanks for waking me up, hyung." the boy said in a small voice and mark's heart hurt a bit by the sight of a sleepy donghyuck who was clinging onto his arms since his own body was still just waking up.

"i'll go and eat breakfast, okay hyuckie? you get ready." he spoke softly and donghyuck nodded to show that he understood.

while existing the room mark found himself to coo at the other. he would not mind having to wake up donghyuck every day. it was just a really cute sight and he was glad he got to share a room with his best friend.

yesterday they had cuddled while watching the movie and mark had loved it. even though he always rejected donghyuck when cameras were present or there were too many people around it was different when they were in private. he loved to cuddle the other but he needed to feel totally relaxed and comfortable to come out if his shell. he knew it would be okay if they cuddled on camera too but he was always scared he would be called out for that behaviour. maybe people would assume he was gay or he liked donghyuck. mark believed it was because he grew up in canada where it was rather uncommon for boys to be so comfortable with skin-ship. ironically in korea, where homosexuality was a taboo, skin-ship between males was completely normal and acceptable.

donghyuck didn't mind that mark rejected him on camera. he just teased mark and enjoyed the time off camera when he could cuddle the older all he wanted. mark did like it too so it was just a very clingy friendship. sometimes their hyungs teased them because of it but since donghyuck was like that with them too they could not really say anything either.

after breakfast the dreamies went to the practice rooms. while chenle changed (he went to practice with a big hoodie that wouldn't be comfortable dancing with) the others were warming up and greeting their dance instructor. two other staff members were present to check that everything was fine and the members were in a good and healthy condition, but that was it.

they soon started practicing and all seven of them gave their best. it still was a while until their comeback but they were ambitious and wanted to break records. after three hour practice they were all tired and their dance instructor invited them to lunch. as soon as the seven boys heard that they all cheered.

their instructor chose a small restaurant near their dorms so that after they wouldn't have to take a car. the owner greeted them and showed them their table. they ordered and as they waited for the food to arrive a conversation was going on. mark and donghyuck weren't engaging in it though as the two just joked and laughed at their own jokes. then mark realised again how much he had adapted the others laugh. he missed laughing with him. even though they had been living in the same dorm mark had a busy schedule with all the promotions for superm and their recordings for the dream comeback and donghyuck was in the studio for his radio project (37.5mhz 해찬 라디오 haechan radio on youtube). this caused them to barely spend any time together which would probably change in the next few weeks and months.

after their lunch they went back to the dorm as planned. jeno who was walking with mark informed the group that he would restart his jsmr project so they should not worry if he sometimes came back late to their dorms. they all congratulated him and jaemin, as clingy as he was, hugged the boy. mark rubbed jeno's back and congratulated him as well.

"mark-hyung, you want to do some extra practice later?" donghyuck invited him and he agreed. even though he had been working a lot recently he still wanted their comeback to be perfect and there were a few parts in the choreography that could be improved. seen as one of these parts was with donghyuck as a partner it made sense that they went over it again together. also he really wanted to hang out with his best friend again.

so when arriving at the dorm the members parted ways, jeno into his studio, mark and donghyuck into a free practice room and the rest just spend their afternoon off as they liked.

after an hour off practicing both donghyuck and mark were covered in sweat, panting heavily. mark could feel his bones growing tired but he resisted the urge to sit down and instead asked "let's take a quick break and then go over our part again?"

"sure, god!" donghyuck exclaimed "i really need a break."

mark passed him his water bottle and both basically drank their whole bottles. it was hot after all. after catching his breath mark put their comeback song on play and positioned himself so he could instantly start with their part of the choreography. the younger followed shortly after him and the two waited for the song to hit the first beat of that part.

when it did the two moved again. they were in close proximity and their faces were really close. as they moved their bodies smoothly their faces neared themselves so that by the end of their part their faces were almost touching.

they halted their movement after the part had ended, both now heavy breathing again. their eyes had locked and mark had to admit how hot donghyuck looked right now. donghyuck thought the same but was a bit hesitant about that thought since it was his best friend he was thinking about. their noses touched and mark jerked his head away. he didn't even realise how he got closer and closer during their stare off.

"wowie..." mark said and instantly hated himself. that, if anything, just made the whole situation more awkward.

"we should probably stop now." donghyuck voiced from behind. he, too, felt the awkwardness even though he could not explain himself why. this dance move, even though unusual, had been done before. maybe it was just their intense stare off that caught both off guard.

"yeah. let's pack." mark suggested and so donghyuck did. he only brought his hoodie, his phone and a towel so there was not much to pack. he put on the hoodie and stored his phone in the front pocket. the towel he just grabbed and carried with his hand. mark finished and they exited the practice room. on the way back to the dorms they did not talk.
