The chestnut haired boy used the tip of his decaying sneakers to absentmindedly kick stray debris on the ground as he strolled down a deserted street- the ghost of glowing street signs and vendors haunted the stale air of the abandoned area.

It was late at night, some time around 2 am in the morning. It was quite chilly considering that Seoul was just commencing their conversion from winter to spring.

It made no difference to him, it would take much more to make him feel cold- or any feeling at all.

The 16 year old attended a decent a high school on the other side, the side of Seoul that lived up to its metropolitan status. His output consisted of an all-around cheerful persona, peers would describe him as constantly brimming with life and animation-

He was glad they thought of him that way, that means the front he put up was believable enough.

Dull-shining stars illuminated the night sky, the city light tainting the view so that the full beauty of the cosmos couldn't be unveiled to the boy's sight.

Ever since the nova, he lived a meaningless life.

Their was a vast, gaping hole in his soul that could be momentarily filled with the approval of others-but would drain dry the minute he opened the door to his apartment:

Every day, he was reminded that no one was there.

Reminded that he was alone.

There were no pictures, no posters, nothing that would indicate a trace of human livelihood withing the small studio space. He had grown accustomed to this inner void, putting up a facade of being this happy, bright sunshine-

the last ounce of real joy he could experience was from giving others what he didn't have:

Happiness.

But there was a part of him that was completely different.

A part of him that yearned to feel.

Over the time that he had led a meaningless life, he let this emotional numbness germinate, and now-

he could barely feel.

Even to the extent that his pain tolerance was inhumane.

He literally couldn't feel.
