Destiny immediately dropped down beside Danny. She assessed his wound as well as she could without moving him. It appeared Danny had been shot with a small calibre hand gun at extremely close range, no more than a few feet. The bullet had entered his left side just below his heart. Destiny knew the heart had not been touched because the blood coming from the wound was oozing and not pumping out. It appeared as though they had arrived just after the shooting.

"Sam, Sam! I need you!" Destiny yelled.  To the others she barked, "Sit down and stay out of my way." Sam came and knelt beside Destiny on the blood soaked floor.

"Wh ---- what do I do?" he stammered.

"Send him warm and good vibrations. Don't let his soul languish in the cold and dark. Make him want to live!"

Sam balked. "I'm not a healer! We need a doctor, he needs an ambulance..." Sam began as he started to rise, but Destiny caught his wrist and pulled him back down.

"There's no time! If we don't try, he'll die! Do as I say, Sam, I know you can. You're an empath. Manipulate the energies around you, do it now!"

Sam swallowed hard, then closed his eyes drowning out the scene, the noise, the smells, everything except the energies flowing around him. All he could see were dark colors at first. Browns and dun colors and then he found a spark of red.

Sam was not far from Jake and he reached out and took his brother's hand. Suddenly Jake seemed galvanized, like he was getting a low grade current running through his body. Sam did not let go and the red spark intensified and began to grow. The energies came together and flowed through Sam and he gave them a gentle mind nudge and they flowed into Danny.

Meanwhile, Destiny put her hands on either side of Danny's face. Gods, he was so cold. She gently turned him to his back. Yes, good the bullet had a clear entry and exit point. She didn't have to get the bullet out.

She quickly raised Danny's thin cotton shirt, what he had been wearing onstage, and bared the wound. It was a clean shot and Destiny wondered if the shooter had meant to wound or kill? She cleared her mind and put her hands just above the wound. Concentrating all her energies she closed her eyes and her hands began to glow. A bright orange light, almost to bright too look at, enveloped Danny's entire side.

She was beginning to sweat, a sure sign she was becoming drained. Sam was swaying and he dropped Jake's hand. The two brothers were breathing heavily and were almost drained of energy. Destiny removed shaking hands from the wound in Danny's side. She almost collasped backward, but Josh was there to catch her. She breathed deeply and then sat up. Where Danny had a wound before there was only a small scratch.

"Get him a blanket, keep him warm," she said to Josh. Josh took one of the flannel throws from one of the seats and threw it over Danny. Then he returned all of his attention to Destiny.

"Are you okay?" Josh asked anxiously. She was about to answer when a solid thunk came from the side of the bus.

"Get ready," said Goliath.  Then there were several more thunks.

"What is that?" Josh asked Goliath nervously.

"Arrows. Keep down, boy!!" And the window above Josh's head exploded in a shower of tempered glass. Josh bent over Destiny and discovered she was deeply asleep. So was Sam and Jake was weak as water. He was on his own with Goliath.

Josh stayed low as he joined Goliath at the door. There was no glass in the door, but the windshield was another matter entirely.

"We're going to have to pick 'em off one by one," said Goliath. "Get ready."
