CH.59: I WAS A FOOL

*LUNCH*

"If me and Robbie were hanging on to a cliff, who would you save first?" Luke asked the next day.

"Both of you. I have two hands, you know?" I replied.

"No, what if you only get to choose one of us?" Luke pressed.

"What's with the sudden question anyway?" I asked back.

"I want to know who you like more." He says.

"So childish." Louis sits down on our table like nothing even happened yesterday.

The nerve of this guy...

I wanted to confront him about the kiss but he wouldn't even make eye contact.

"Hey Cher!" Niall greeted.

"So Cher and I watched a movie last night without cuddling... that's pretty 'friendly' right?" Zayn asked for the other guys' opinion.

"Uh, you don't have to broadcast it out loud to everyone." I told him.

"It depends. What kind of movie?" Niall asked Zayn.

"Begin Again. I was there too." Luke answered instead.

"You guys watched a movie without inviting me?" Niall gasped.

"It was on short notice." I explained.

"We should do another movie night then! Louis has this awesome theater room at his house." Niall gushed.

"I'm not sure if I should invite a girl over... my parents would freak out." Louis says.

"Is it because you never brought a girl home before?" Zayn asked.

"Yeah."

"Then we'll just have her dress up as a dude or something..." Luke suggested.

"That's a great idea!" Niall exclaimed and the blondes high-fived.

"Wait, what? There's no way I'm going to let you guys decide for me... besides I'm hanging out with Robbie." I said as I glanced at Louis who was busy nibbling with his food.

"We haven't even set a date for the movie night yet." Niall says.

Crap. I just got busted. I don't really want to go because of Louis.

"Hello, everyone." Liam shows up out of the blue.

"Where have you been lately? You keep disappearing and then you just show up whenever you please." I questioned the guy.

"Been hanging out with Harry lately..." Liam says.

"Why? The guy's a bad influence. Wait, is he still selling you my photos? Is that why you're hanging out with him?" I asked.

"Uh... he's not that bad. Here, he even made you an 'I'm sorry' cupcake plus he gave me a discount for your photos." Liam handed me a baby-pink cupcake with white frosting which were my favorite colors.

"He disguised himself as the lunch lady just so he could bake that." Liam added.

"And how do I know that this isn't poisoned?" I'm skeptical alright.

"Because I just ate the cupcake that he gave me so I'm pretty sure it's safe." Liam explained.

"Oh alright." I snatched the cupcake away from him just because it was tempting me.

"Hey, can I come to your movie night too?" Liam asked.

"I'm not going but perhaps you guys could use some night out or something." I suggested.

"Without you? That's just... lame." Luke says and the rest of the guys agreed.

"Well, look what we have here. One bad girl, two bad boys, two jocks and a smart-ass that just doesn't seem to fit in. What a combination." Robbie appeared with a smile on his face.

"Uh, as you can see, this table is already crowded so go sit with your friends, upperclassman." Louis said to him.

"I thought you liked Robbie?" Niall whispered to Louis.

"Don't worry, kiddo. I'm not here to sit with you guys... I'm here to snatch my girlfriend." Rob grabs my hand and I let him take me away.

"Well, that's even worse. You should've just let him sit with us instead of taking Cher with him." I heard Zayn say.

"Can't you see there's no more space?!" Louis argued back.

"What's up?" I asked Robbie when we were an earshot away from the guys.

"Um, my mum wants you to come over more often from now on so that you could help out in planning for our wedding next year." He said seriously.

"You're kidding, right?" I asked but a giggle didn't even escape from his mouth.

"You're not joking..." I thought out loud.

"And you're okay with it? What about Travis?" I asked.

"We'll figure something out." He sighed.

"My dad's coming over this weekend too so... yeah, my mum means serious business." He added.

"I'll, um, help you think of something." I assured him.

"For now, let's just... chill." I suggested.

Not that I don't want to marry him, it's just that I think it's unfair on his part that he's forced to marry a girl.

I'm on his side no matter what.

*DISMISSAL*

"Luke, I got your text... where are you?" I scanned the swimming pool area of our school for Lucas but there was no one here.

He sent me a random text message to come meet him by the swimming pool but he isn't even here.

Just then, I saw a blonde guy whose body was floating on the pool... he was wearing a black shirt just like what Luke was wearing at lunch and so this made me dive right in to rescue him.

I immediately brought him up on the surface beside the pool and shook him with all my might as I was dripping on him.

"Luke! Luke! Lucas! Wake up!" I said frantically.

What the hell happened?!

He clearly needs a mouth to mouth resuscitation right away so I performed one on him.

During my third blow on his mouth, his hands held my head in place so that he could kiss me on the mouth!

"What the hell?!" I yelled when I managed to pull away.

"You were faking your drowning just so you could kiss me?!" I realized.

He just grinned in response as he sat up.

"That's just low! Luke, why'd you do that?!" I scolded.

"I just wanted to see if you'd actually save me..." He says.

"Did you know how worried I was when I saw your body floating in the water?!" I started crying and his smile faltered.

"Don't cry... I'm sorry..." He hugged me tight as I buried my head in his chest.

"I'm so sorry..." He repeatedly said.

"I WON'T ever do that again! I'm so sorry if I scared you... it was just a prank and---"

"You didn't think that I would actually give a damn about you?! Because I care too much about you, Luke. You can't do this to me." I sobbed.

"I was a fool... I'm sorry." He started crying as well.
