Y/N stared at the building in front of her, her hands shaking a little. She took one deep breath, then two. Her phone binged with a text, and she knew without even looking that Seongmin was asking if she was close by.

She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to collect herself.

And then she walked into the building.

He was pacing in the lobby, obviously just as nervous as she was. Probably even more. After all, he had so much more to lose. She briefly wondered if he was regretting his decision. They'd been fine being just friends for a year. They could wait a bit longer.

But when he turned around, a smile lit up his entire face as soon as he looked at her. And she could tell that he wasn't regretting anything.

Seongmin had told her he wanted to start dating. He wanted to be open with the company CEO about it. They'd probably have to hide it from the fans for a while, but one day, he said he wanted to be honest with them too.

He ran up to her, engulfing her in a giant hug. "I've missed you," he whispered into her hair.

She giggled, pulling back and looking at him. "We FaceTimed just last night. And we still go to school together, silly."

"Yeah, but you know what I mean. It's not the same." He slipped his hand into hers. "Are you ready?"

She took another deep breath. It did nothing to make her feel better. "Absolutely not," she admitted with a small laugh.

"Having second thoughts?" he teased.

"Not about you," she answered. "I'm just kind of scared of what your CEO is going to say. How he's going to react. What if he tells us no?"

"Then we'll date in secret," he said with a laugh.

She glared at him. "I'm serious."

"So am I," he said, twisting a strand of her hair in-between two fingers. He squeezed her hand. "Let's go, shall we?"

She nodded, unable to say anything. She tried to concentrate on what she was planning to say. She repeated the words over and over again, but when they got into the office, all of the words flew out of her head.

The CEO narrowed his eyes, looking at their hands. She resisted the urge to run away. Instead, she tucked herself slightly behind Seongmin, trying to be as discreet about it as possible.

But of course, he noticed, and he grinned, unable to stop himself from laughing.

"Scared?" he whispered.

"Shut up," she hissed at him, her eyes darting over to the CEO, who was watching their exchange with something that bordered on amusement.

Seongmin ruffled her hair. "Cute," he said, winking at her once and turning back to the CEO. "We're dating," he announced confidently, holding up their intertwined fingers.

That was it. No asking permission. No diplomatic approach. Any nerves that Seongmin may have had earlier were completely gone, and now he was staring at her, smiling as though she was his sun and his stars.

She blushed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear and watching as the CEO stood up and walked towards them.

"Okay," he said after a long moment. "Try to hide it for as long as possible, okay kids? And let me know when you want to go out on dates, so that maybe one of the other members could release something, and people would be distracted by it, and won't see you."

She squeezed Seongmin's hand tightly. They got permission. They really got permission.

Seongmin bounced on his tippy-toes. "Really? Yes, of course. Thank you! Thank you thank you!"

The CEO laughed. "Get out of here."

They walked out of the office, hand in hand. She turned to him, and he engulfed her in a hug. "He said yes," he whispered into her hair, over and over again.

- A month later -

The CEO slid some pictures towards them. "Look at this."

Her heart dropped when she looked at them. Despite all their efforts to hide it, someone had found out. Someone had taken picture after picture, and someone had posted an article about them last night.

"We have a release a statement," the CEO said, looking at them. "What would you like to say? Should we deny it or confirm it?"

"The evidence is there," Seongmin pointed out. "Besides, I wanted to be open about our relationship eventually. Let's just reveal it now."

The CEO nodded. "I think that's for the best."

Y/N left the office, Seongmin at her heels. She walked to their dance practice room and sat on the floor, pressing her back against the wall and closing her eyes. "What have we done?" she whispered.

He took her hand. "It's fine," he assured her with a laugh. "Everything will be fine."

She took out her phone, reading the article. There were already negative comments. "People are upset," she said softly. "Will you be alright? Maybe we should just break up."

"Absolutely not. Don't even joke about that. Come on, I didn't expect immediate applause. They'll get used to the idea, don't worry."

"People are protesting," she told him.

"There's like, two people at that protest," he said with another laugh. He was taking this much better than she expected. Better than her, that's for sure.

She sighed, frowning at the floor. What if she ruined his career?

There was a knock on the door, and a staff member came in. "I think you should come downstairs."

"Why?" Seongmin asked. "Is something wrong?"

The lady smiled and shook her head, handing them post-it notes. "Actually, I think something very right is happening."

Y/N scanned the notes in her hand.

"We love you Seongmin", "Y/N and Seongmin look so cute together", "You should do a drama together", "Stay together forever" they read.

Y/N teared up, smiling at the notes in her hand. "What's all this?"

"Fans are outside, writing encouraging messages and holding posters that say 'We love Seongmin' and things like that."

Seongmin smiled, turning to her and taking her hand as the staff member left. "See, I told you everything would be alright."

"I never should have doubted you," she whispered, placing a hand on his cheek and staring at him adoringly.

"Let's go greet our fans, shall we?" he said softly, squeezing her hand and leading her out. She smiled, suddenly feeling hopeful about the future.
