Y/N was dreaming. It had to be a dream.
And not a good one either.
She read the title of the article her friend sent her. And then she re-read it. Each time hoping for something different, but each time seeing the same thing.
An article about her and Taeyoung. They thought she was his girlfriend.
Stupid sasaeng fans. The poor kid wanted one day of peace, and they'd followed him. They'd taken pictures. And now he was caught up in rumors, all because he was caught talking to her.
She programed his number in her phone and called, not expecting him to pick up. She was really surprised when he actually did.
"Hello?"
She almost dropped the phone. "Um... this is Y/N. We met at the market today..."
"Oh! Yes, I remember!"
He sounded much too happy. She didn't want to spoil his mood, but...
"Didn't you see the article?"
Taeyoung laughed. "The rumors about us? Yeah, I saw it. I talked to my CEO about it and it's fine. This afternoon he'll release a statement to clear things up."
She sighed. "You don't seem overly concerned."
He didn't respond for a moment. "Well..." he said, his voice taking on a teasing note. "Maybe we should make those rumors a reality."
Y/N coughed awkwardly. "Is this your way of asking me out? You, an idol? You realize that you'll get in so much trouble, right? And that we just met... literally this morning."
Someone tapped her shoulder, and she spun around, expecting to find a costumer.
Instead finding herself face to face with him. He was holding out flowers and smiling that smile of his, the one that probably melted the heart of every girl who saw him. He hung up the phone. Hers slipped out of her hand and onto the grass.
"Well?" he asked, looking at her so hopefully that she was having a hard time meeting his gaze.
"We don't know each other," she mumbled.
"Wouldn't the whole point of dating be to get to know each other?" he asked, rolling his eyes at her. "Come on, don't leave me hanging. Tell me yes or no. We already have my CEO's permission."
"I thought you said you explained about the incident to him, and explained that we weren't dating, and didn't know each other."
"I did say that I explained the incident. That included telling him that I think I like you and that I want to ask you out."
"How'd you get his permission?"
"The rumors about us are already out, and the majority of fans are taking it well. In fact, some have been requesting seeing us together more often so that they can really ship us. So... what do you say? Wanna give it a go?"
This was ridiculous. Absolutely crazy. Dating a celebrity? A boy she'd just met that morning? It was crazy.
If it had been anyone else but Taeyoung, she would have said no.
But he was the boy who'd helped her sell her art. He was the boy who was sweet to his fans even when he wanted to be alone. He was the boy with the charming smile and the kind heart.
She had to admit that her heart fluttered when she looked at him.
Maybe he was right. Maybe it wasn't so important to know each other well now, that would come with time.
She took the flowers. "Yes," she told him, giving him a brave smile. "Let's make their rumors our reality."
