Y/N grabbed Serim by the wrist and dragged him out of the office, holding herself together by a thread. She took one deep breath, then two, but they did nothing to calm her down. She was shaking uncontrollably. She accidently slammed the door to the office. Great.

"I'm breaking up with you," she told him, trying to sound firm, but her voice broke and tears escaped her. "I can't let you get fired," she whispered, unable to meet his eyes.

"No," he said softly. "Please, no."

She looked up, placing a hand on his cheek. "I won't let you sabotage your future like this," she told him sternly. "But we can talk, if you want. We can FaceTime and text and if we still like each other, we can talk to your CEO again in another year or so. Or if you want, if it's easier, we can cut off contact completely now-"

"Can I have your number?" he whispered, holding out his phone.

She sighed in relief, taking his phone and programing her number. She added a series of hearts next to her name, and when he saw it, he smiled.

"Cute," he commented, ruffling her hair. His eyes were sad. "You better answer all of my calls, okay?" he said softly, his voice breaking a little.

She nodded, unable to respond. "Should we go back in now?"

Serim shook his head. "I'll go. I don't want you to be in there when-" his voice splintered, and tears escaped his eyes. He tilted back his head, squeezing his eyes shut tight. After a moment, he let out a little laugh and looked back down at her. "This shouldn't hurt as much as it does."

She pressed a hand against her heart, feeling a physical pain. He was right. They barely knew each other. Why were they being so dramatic?

Serim hugged her, kissing her forehead. She tippy-toed and kissed his cheek. "I'll call you tonight?" she asked him, but he shook his head.

"I don't know if the CEO will take away my phone. I sent your contact to the Cravity group chat so everyone has it... I might have to call you from one of their phones. Or... if he takes away all of our phones then, I don't know. Just wait. I'll call you first, as soon as I can. Okay?"

"Okay," she whispered, giving him one last hug. He turned and walked into the office, and she ran out and away before she could regret her decision. This was for the best.

I think we should stop talking to each other, she'd told him through voicemail. I think things will be easier if we cut it off completely. It'll only cause us more pain in the end if we continue like this. Please, don't contact me anymore.

Y/N leaned back on her pillow, closing her eyes and letting hot tears stream down her face. She'd made the decision a couple months ago, and just as she'd asked, he hadn't contacted her again. She thought it would be less painful to end things sooner, before it was too late. Before they were both more hurt.

And yet, she missed him. So, so much. Too much.

"This is stupid," she whispered to herself. "You're stupid, for giving yourself hope in the first place."

For months, they'd Face-timed. They'd called and texted. And she was happy that way. Until she found herself falling more and more in love with him. In love with a boy she wasn't allowed to be with.

"You made the right decision," she assured herself. "It'll be easier for both of us this way. You don't want him to be in pain either, right?" And it would have be more pain when they had to break up after being together longer. This way, she was saving them both.

But even though she told him not to call, she wished he would. She wanted to hear his voice again. She wanted to see his smile, and not just the smile she saw in his videos. She wanted to see the smile that was only for her.

She knew she caused him pain. After she sent him that voicemail, he'd taken a two month hiatus, for personal reasons. It could have been something else, but she felt certain it was because she hurt him. After all, that would be a really big coincidence, wouldn't it?

But she comforted himself by saying he didn't seem to be in pain anymore. In his recent videos, he smiled. He laughed. Surely, he was okay now, even though she wasn't.

Grabbing her jacket, she went out of her house, her body mindlessly taking her somewhere, until she found herself in front of the fountain that she first met him at. She smiled to herself, remembering their first encounter, and then every moment after that. Tears welled up in her eyes. Stupid heart. What kind of person falls so quickly for someone they don't even know?

She was stupid for coming back here in the first place. What was she trying to do, make herself more sad?

Y/N turned, ready to leave now. She shouldn't come back. That would only be more painful.

But there he was.

Her heart stopped, and he slowly walked towards her. He put his hands on her shoulders, staring deep into her eyes as though he could hardly believe she was real. And then he hugged her, tightly, as though his life depended on it.

She sank into his embrace, clenching her hands into fists and trying not to cry. After a moment, she placed her hands on his chest, pushing him away.

"Why'd you do that?" he whispered, catching one of her tears with his thumb. "Why would you do a stupid thing like that, and make yourself this sad?"

"I thought..." she said, taking a deep breath. She started crying in earnest. "I thought it would be better if we could just quickly forget about each other."

"I tried really hard," he told her, hugging her again. "But I can't seem to forget about you."

She pushed him away. "Leave. Please leave. You're going to get in trouble," she insisted, even though every corner of her heart was screaming in protest. "It's for the best."

"It is not for the best," he retorted, fire in his eyes. "You're sad. I'm sad. How is any of that for the best?"

"You'll lose your job!" she said, her voice raising.

He cupped her face in his hands. "That would be painless compared to losing you," he whispered softly. "Please don't leave me again."

"That's ridiculous," she whispered. "Don't make a stupid decision."

He grabbed her wrist suddenly, pulling her along.

"Where are we going?!?!"

"We're going back to my CEO. I'm telling him that we are going to date, so he can fire me now if he wants to. But I'm also going to tell him that you will be adored by my fans, if we reveal it right. I'll tell him that I have a plan."

"Do you?"

"Not really," he said with a shrug, seemingly unconcerned. He turned to her, his eyes bright, and he gave her one of his heart crushing smiles. The smile she so desperately wanted to see. A smile that was only meant for her.

"Not really," he repeated, squeezing her hand. "But we'll figure something out, right?"

She let out a breath and looked up at him, finally allowing a smile to come to her own face. Finally allowed herself to hope again. Maybe, just maybe this was possible. "Right."
