"You again?" the CEO said, narrowing his eyes at her as soon as they walked into his office. She shrank back behind Serim, feeling less confident now.

"Will you let us date," Serim said, sounding very confident despite the glare from his employer. "If we have a plan to get Y/N loved by my fans?"

"What's your plan?" the CEO asked, still looking at her with distaste. Her heart skipped a beat. Serim had told her he didn't have a plan. What was he going to do now? Clearly they didn't think this through very well.

"We were planning to release my solo album soon, right?" he asked, not waiting for an answer before he continued. "Well, Y/N sings! She has a beautiful voice," he gushed.

She pinched him. "How's that going to help us?"

"My question exactly," the CEO said, the two of them finally in agreement.

"My title track will feature her."

"What?" she whispered, her eyes widening. She swore that her heart stopped beating for a second. She had never, never, sung in public.

"Think about it!" Serim said excitedly, clapping his hands together. She was trying to glare at him, to tell him to stop, but his bright eyes were only on the CEO. "Think about what the reporters will say. They'll love it. A rookie singer with no company, featured in my MV, in my album. They'll eat that stuff up. She'll be in my music video, and we'll do promotions together. When fans see us, they'll undoubtedly start to ship us. And then we'll just make it seem as though we started dating after collaborating... which technically we did anyway, since you'd banned us from dating before."

"I haven't lifted that ban yet," the CEO said, but he looked thoughtful. "But that's actually not a bad idea. You could get more publicity for your album this way too. I'm willing to try it. But you can only date if it seems as though your fans ship you guys. Deal?"

"Deal!" Serim said happily, turning to her. "What do you say?"

Singing in public, in exchange for being to date him. You can do that, right? She asked herself, and found herself nodding. Yes, of course she could.

The past weeks had been a flurry of excitement and hardly any sleep. But still, she was more energized than ever, being with Serim. The idea of being on stage had been both terrifying and thrilling. It still was. No matter how many times she performed with him, she suspected it would always be the same. A bundle of nerves, paired with elation.

Serim turned on the vlive, and she smiled and waved at the camera. It was their third vlive together. She kind of loved doing them. Seeing the negative comments made them both sad, but there was enough happiness to outweigh any negativity. His fans truly were the sweetest.

And, according to plan, his fans had started to ship them.

"We have a week left of promotions," Serim said, looking a little sad. "They really flew by. You're going to miss us, aren't you?" he asked, pouting at the cameras.

Y/N laughed. "I'm going to miss promoting," she admitted. "It's tiring and terrifying, but also really fun. I liked meeting your fans."

"And your fans," he said, smiling at her. "You have a lot of fans now too."

She shook her head shyly. "Not really."

He glared at her, and turned back to the camera, reading comments. "A lot of people here are saying they're your fans."

"You're too kind," she said, placing a hand over her heart and smiling gratefully at the camera.

"I have an announcement for everyone," Serim said suddenly. His eyes were bright and he was fidgety. "A first place promise."

"Do tell," she said, tilting her head and staring at him. He surely seemed excited about this promise of his.

"If we get a win, I'll make a proposal to you."

Her eyes widened and she gasped, rather against her will. "Serim," she hissed at him. "What are you saying?"

His eyes sparkled with mischief and he shrugged, going back to reading comments. One said: "sir aren't y'all too young to be getting married", causing both of them to laugh.

"Not a marriage proposal, but an interesting one nevertheless," he promised.

Serim's fans were surely something. The moment he announced his first place win, his fans started voting and streaming in full force. And now they were on stage, waiting to see if they won.

She wrung her hands together as the scores were calculated...

... and they won.

Serim tackled her in a hug, screaming in her ear and jumping up and down. She stood still, too stunned to hear him. Seeing him take the trophy and thank his fans broke her out of her daze though, and she started crying, so happy for him.

The other artists left and she kept crying, thanking his fans over an over again. Serim came back over and hugged her tightly, wiping a tear off of her face. "Don't cry," he said gently.

"I'm so happy for you," she whispered.

"For us," he said sternly.

The fans were chanting. She tilted her head, trying to make out what they were saying.

"Proposal," Serim whispered. "They're asking about the proposal I promised."

He brought the mic to his mouth, dropping down on one knee. She gasped, stumbling backwards.

"Y/N, will you do the honor of dating me?" he asked, holding out couple rings.

She laughed, and started crying again. He stood up, and it was her turn to tackle him in a hug.

"Yes," she whispered. "Yes, of course I will."
