Y/N waited outside of the school, her backpack slung on one shoulder. She shifted her weight from foot to foot, tippy-toeing and peering inside of the windows.
"Boo!"
She squeaked, spinning around. Taeyoung was there, grinning at her in amusement.
"Did I scare you?" he asked, bumping into her shoulder playfully.
"Of course not," she responded, not quite looking at him. She was sure that if she looked at him, he'd be able to see in her eyes that she had a crush on him. And she couldn't do that.
They'd been friends since childhood. He clearly didn't like her back, so no use worrying herself with those feelings. Besides, it was just a silly crush. She'd have to find someone else and move on. She wasn't even sure of her feelings yet, not really. Why should she risk ruining their friendship?
He laughing, taking her bag off of her shoulder and swinging it onto his own. "Sure. What are you doing later today?"
"Serim said he'd help me with my essay."
Taeyoung pouted at her. "We're in the same class. Why don't you let me help you?"
Because I don't think my heart can handle being next to you for so long.
"Because one, I always do better than you in literature. And two, Serim is older, he's gone through these classes, and therefore will probably be the better choice to help me."
"Does that mean you're coming to the dorms later?"
"Nah, I think we'll be in one of the practice rooms."
Taeyoung scratched his head, nodding, but his eyes were on the ground. "Okay. Maybe I'll stop by and see you later then." He looked up. "We're here," he said, gesturing to her house.
"You wanna come in for a bit? My parents haven't seen you in forever, they miss you."
"I have to go do my homework quickly and then practice," he said, looking at her apologetically. "Hopefully some other time. Sometime soon. There's something I want to ask them."
Huh? What could he possibly want to ask them?

Y/N leaned over, pointing to a line in the textbook. "I still don't get what they're trying to say though."
"I thought I was supposed to be helping you with your essay."
"You were. But then I got home and tried to do my science homework, and now here we are."
Serim laughed, shaking his head at her. "How are you doing in science?"
"Taeyoung is beating me at it," she said with a sigh, rolling her eyes playfully. "I have to work harder."
Serim laughed again, clapping his heads. She grinned. He was cute when he got excited.
"The two of you are so competitive," he teased. "I bet that's what keeps your grades so high."
"Probably," she agreed with a laugh.
He smiled, but then his face suddenly turned serious, and he cleared his throat, looking at the floor.
"Actually Y/N... I have something I wanted to ask you."
She pulled out her essay, laying it on the desk. "Yes?"
