Chapter 16
We all knelt to the ground to welcome Aphrodite. I hadn't seen her before now, but her beauty radiated and power emanated from her current form, thought it wasn't her true form. She was the most beautiful person I had ever seen, and where he eyes should've been, was a light reflecting spring water. We were delighted to see her but also scared. Why was she here?
"Stand children," she said.
We stood up at once.
"My son. Is he okay?"
"He's unconscious, and his skin is still burning up," Will replied.
"You can save him, right?" I asked, knowing that I should've been more polite but I was worried about him.
"It is not yet my son's time to die, as the fates have not cut his string," she said matter of factly. She knelt down beside him. The embodiment of beauty. The resemblance between her and Jay was astounding. She placed her hand over his forehead and muttered an Ancient Greek prayer. A glow shone from her hand and onto his skin. His eyes immediately opened and his irises were amber. He took a deep breath, as if trying to fill his lungs up.
He sat up and looked at his mother. A smile formed on his face as he hugged her. Tears fell onto his cheeks. Aphrodite stood up, said goodbye to him and glowed, as we all averted our eyes.
I sat down next to him and hugged him. I started to cry. I thought that I lost him. But finally he was okay and safe.
"I'm here Priya. Don't worry," he said.
We spent about an hour and a half just to update Jay on what was going on and introduce him to Edward. We made sure he was comfortable and willing to carry out the plan.
We got up, just before the sun began to set and we started our journey around the cave. After about 2 hours of walking, we sat down so that Jay could rest. He sat on a huge boulder at the edge of the trail overlooking the few houses at the bottom of the mountain. I sat down next to him since Edward and Will were occupied in a conversation about what the quest was really about.
" I'm sorry, Jay" I said to him as we both looked out at the dark sky.
" It's not you fault, Priya. Don't be silly," he said and held my hand.
" What did they do to you?" I said, looking at him.
"I'm fine now. That doesn't matter anymore. It was horrible and painful-"
I closed my eyes as the thought of him screaming in pain for someone to help him ran through my mind.
"-but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. You guys saved me. I'm here. With you. That's all I want."
I rest my head on his shoulder and he kissed my forehead.
" That's all I want too. You and I. Together."Jay got up a few minutes later and was ready to keep walking. He didn't know about my visions. He was the only one completely clueless about this quest. I didn't want to tell him. I didn't want him to worry about us. He needed to take care of himself first. Will was already planning and trying to figure out why I was the one getting visions about Jay even though it was his quest. He got visions too so we tried to piece them together, hoping it was related, but also hoping that they wouldn't connect. We didn't need to make it more difficult.
