Chapter 23
(Priya's POV)
I woke up, on the cold, muddy floor, on the inside of the very same cell that I was first thrown into. My head hurt so much, that I couldn't even stand up. I rest my hand on my temples, but all I found out was that my head was bloody. I probably have a concussion. I lay back on the floor, knowing that my escape plans were futile and that I was probably stuck here for eternity.
I stared up at the ceiling, with a few cracks in between so that sunlight could pierce through it and into the cell. I hoped that everyone, especially Jay was safe. I hoped that Percy wouldn't look for me, because I knew he wouldn't find me. I started to think about camp and all the eager demigods awaiting to go on their quests, but I was interrupted when my head started to split, figuratively, not literally, even more than before. I heard someone say my name.
"Priya. Wake up. Pay attention." I sat up and looked around me trying to hear where the voice was coming from. It wasn't a voice that I recognized. It sounded familiar yet distant from my memory.
"Priya, you have to listen to me. I am your father. Trust what I say. I can't stay in my usual form, before they hear me," I ignored it and lay back down thinking it was just the old Titan playing tricks with my mind, trying to lure me into another one of his traps." You were only a few days old when I had to leave you, Priya. But I came back, when you were 8 years old, and I showed you what you could do. I taught you how to use your powers and to use them for good. You didn't know that was me, but you knew a strange man appeared by the lake your mother took you to yearly, and he controlled the water, and showed you hippocampi. You knew in your heart that you weren't just a mortal," the voice said in a calm tone.
I immediately sat up. No one else besides my father and I knew about that memory. Not even my mother. I ran away from home after a few kids saw me talking to myself and started to bully me. They told me that I was crazy, when really I knew that I was talking to someone else. From then on, their parents scorned my mother and I, so I figured it was best if I had left her. Then she wouldn't have to be ashamed of me.
After the lake, when he disappeared, I ran until I reached some bushes and the further in I went, the better I felt about everything.
Then I met another man. The same man, but another form. His sea green eyes were the first thing I noticed about l him, and I knew he was familiar. He explained who he was and he spent months, disappearing during the nights, to return to Olympus I had guessed, and returning in the mornings, to help me train. He lead me the gates of Camp half blood, telling me that I would be safe there. I entered and never looked back. Everyone wondered how I found camp by myself, without a satyr or any help, but he helped me. I couldn't tell anyone about it though.
We never saw each since then. But i would alway try to talk to him through my mind, like I did since he said that was the only way we'll be able to contact each other.
"Dad," I whispered, shocked that this time it probably wasn't my imagination.
" Listen to me carefully, Priya. Do not speak my name. Just this once, don't think of me as your father, please. Do exactly as I say if you want to escape unharmed."
I sat up, my back against the wall, listening to every single word, and detail that was given to me. I trust him. He's my father. After he told me the plan to escape, I waited until the time was right, then to take action. Two of the three demigods came in the morning at sunrise to give me food and I knew it was time to escape.
As they slid the plate under the gate I grabbed his hand and tied it using a piece of rope I made from my t shirt. I picked up the tray and pushed my hand through the bars, hitting the other demigod in his face, causing him to fall back, blood dripping from his nose.
I hit the tied up demigod on his head with the tray, knocking him out. I smashed open the lock with the tray and swung open the gate. The second demigod with the bloody nose got up and pulled out his dagger to fight. I didn't have my sword so I had to use the tray. I blocked his moves and eventually managed to hit the dagger out of his hand.
Then he resorted to fighting with his fists. Definitely something I was good at. I kicked him in his abdomen right before he punched me in my shoulder. Both of us fell to the ground holding our injured body parts. His dagger landed right next to my jacket. I could grab it if I wanted to but I had to do so swiftly. I rolled over towards it and picked it up holding it against his neck, before he could even get up off the floor.
I backed him into the cell that they were holding me in and I locked it, removing everything that could possibly open it. Then I picked up my jacket and I ran. I didn't know where I was going but I was just following the track, hoping that I would find my bag with my weapons on my way out.
A few kilometres later, I entered a well designed room. Too perfect to still be underground, or so I thought. I ran to the door on the opposite side of the room, where I found my bag and my bow. Perfect timing because I needed to defend myself.
I ran out of the cave and through any pathway I could find just to escape. I ran for what felt like hours until something started to chase me. I turned back and fired two arrows at its heart. Suddenly the loud footsteps stopped and I bolted once more. After that, everything was a blur.
*days later*
I woke up on the hard ground, face flat in the grass. My head was throbbing but I managed to sit up and prop myself on a tree. My abdomen pained so much and I raised my shirt to see a blue black bruise and a bandage over something.
I raised the bandage and groaned and the wind got caught up in the cut. It looked like a stab?? When did I get stabbed? I placed the bandage quickly back on and applied pressure to it.
I looked around but there was nothing to identify where I was besides trees, scrubs and trails. Forested areas. I checked my bag for something to eat since I haven't eaten in days and I found a pack of cookies. I sat and ate them while decided whether to call Chiron or not. I didn't have any water to create the rainbow so I'd have to walk to find some. I was too weak to even try to use my powers.
How did I get out of Tartarus? I don't remember what happened. I looked around for any cracks on the ground that might tell me where I escaped from but none could be seen.
Wait, it now occurred to me that my injury was bandaged and that too, with proper technique. Did I do that? Wouldn't I have remembered? These thoughts filled my mind leaving my head to hurt even more than before.
A rattle in the bushes cut my thoughts off immediately and I grabbed my bow, stood up and looked around, though my vision was blurry and I knew I could get a straight shot.
I couldn't bear to fight anyone off as I didn't have enough strength in me. What was the brilliant idea that I had instead? I ran. I took off as fast as I could, looking back sometimes to make sure I wasn't being followed. But I was. Something or someone was chasing me and I don't know why.
