Chapter 18

I locked the door and walked over to his bed. His head was still very hot so I took a small towel from the bathroom and soaked it with cold water. I sat down next to him on the bed and placed the towel over his forehead. I did that a couple of times until his temperature was somewhat normal. After a while, I went back to the couch and fell asleep.
I woke up to Will and Jay packing their bags and Edward walking in with some prepackaged donuts. I started to pack my bags and then went into the bathroom to freshen up. It was still dark and cold but we decided to take our thing with us and then travel to Caplion. After eating, we let Edward take lead and guide us to Caplion.

It was not where I expected Edward to grow up. The place was mostly abandoned and still Smokey from the explosion only a few hours ago. We paid the bus and then walked towards the area from which heat was emanating. Of course that has to be where the explosion occurred.

We scoped out the area and then finally came to a heated place. However the explosion occurred inside a gated area, which just made it more suspicious and not natural. We looked at the explosion so we could get an idea of what to expect when we saw these 2 legged creatures with huge forked tongues and long fangs with some sort of vacuum for mouths. I didn't know what they were, but I knew for sure that those guys were ugly. We decided to split up, but this time we went in pairs; Jay and I and Will with Edward.

We got our weapons in our hands and headed to opposite sides of the fence in order to enter the nearly destroyed building. Jay and I took the left side. We jumped over the fence and quietly opened the steel door so that we wouldn't draw attention to ourselves. It was a long, dark hallway with only small dim lights on the wall. This looked even longer than the building from the outside.

We held our weapons closely to us, being as alert as possible. We walked for a long while, both of us silent, looking out for surprise attacks; but there were none.
I put away my bow, but still had my bracelet on.

"Thank you," said Jay, breaking the silence.
"For taking care of me last night."
" You don't need to thank me. You've been through a lot."

After about an hour again of walking and talking, we took a break. I was uneasy. This place reminded me of my visions and I hated every moment of it.

"What's wrong?"
"N-Nothing," I hoped I sounded better than I felt.
" I know you better than that Priya. Talk to me."
I told him about my visions. Him being hung over the lava. That one came through. I told him about me being locked inside of a cage and screaming for help while being tortured by something or someone.
He held my hand until I calmed down and my breathing was constant once more.

"You're not alone. I'm here with you and I'll protect you if it's the last thing I do," He said and kissed me.

We started off on our journey again but this time the floor turned to dry ground, with heat coming through the cracks. This is not natural. Place was now too hot to bear, that both Jay and I took our jackets off and our skin shining with sweat.

"Jay, what do we do? Attack or run?" I asked him as 10 and more monsters crowded around us. "I'm down for fighting."
"Im not that strong as yet. Definitely run. We can't fight them all off," he shouted.

With that I pulled out my bow and tap my shoulder so that my quiver would appear. Thank you Tyson for designing this. What would I do without it?

Jay and I ran. We didn't know which direction we ran but I fired my celestial bronze arrows at these monsters, straight to their hearts, while Jay fought off those that came too close with his sword.

We didn't even know that the ground started to break and we started running downhill, until suddenly all the monsters disappeared. We looked at each other confused, both soaked in sweat.

Jay looked lovely, considering all that he had been through. His hair falling on his sweaty forehead with his lips slightly parted and his chest moving rapidly up and down from all the running. How was it possible? Maybe it's the genes from Aphrodite, or Aphrodite's effects still wearing off from him.

As if on cue, the ground opened up below us, just as our mouths did. And we plummeted to our deaths.

Just kidding.

We plummeted to Hell, so it's kinda the same thing.

After falling for what seemed like minutes and clawing at the air trying to find something to hold onto, we landed on the hard ground. Why was place so hot? If we fell from that height anywhere else, we would've been dead. So why aren't we? Maybe we are, and this is actually our souls in the underworld.
