       3RD PERSONS VIEW

"oi!" mark bursted into their room with a toothy grin.

"yah, lee minhyung!" doyoung scolds the young one who came crashing next to him om his bed. "you're ruining my bed!"

mark hums, "at least i'm not ruining your life."

doyoung deadpans and pushes mark off his bed, causing the younger one to groan in pain as he hit the floor. doyoung gasped, realizing what he had done, "oh fu– i'm sorry!" he immediately apologizes and helps mark up.

jungwoo chuckled at the situation in front of him. "you're quite a softie, aren't you, doyoung?"

doyoung sneered and looked away, "i'm just sorry for pushing mark away."

mark smirked, "no need to deny, hyung."

"i'm gonna kill you." doyoung taunts him.

mark stuck his tongue out childishly, "anyways, taeyong-hyung wants to meet you at the pavilion before you leave."

doyoung felt his heart beat fast from the nerves suddenly kicking in. "huh? why?" he muttered and stood up straight, fixing his bed afterwards.

mark shrugs, "i don't know, he'll probably just question you or something."

"you're so lucky though!"

doyoung raises a brow, "and how did i become lucky?"

"you're like going to meet jaeyoung and like—"

"what is with her anyways? i don't get why people like her, she seems suspicious to me." doyoung huffs and crosses his arms in front of his chest as he pondered about the thought again. he didn't want to admit it but thinking about jaeyoung keeps him awake all night. no matter how hard he tried to stop, his mind just disobeys.

jungwoo stared at his reflection for a bit, remembering that time he met jaeyoung at the school. "she's nice—"

"yeah and so? wait, did i just agree on that?" doyoung placed his hand over his mouth in shock, "erase that." he shook his head, "i meant, what if she's just, um, a good actress? a lot of people were nice at first."

"yeah and you're mean at first." mark retorts making doyoung glare at him, in which mark laughed at.

"you admit she's pretty—"

"that was one time, woo!" doyoung huffed, a pink hue fell on his cheeks.

mark gasped, "woah, you did?!" a giddy feeling rising up inside him.

"jaeyoung's not like mina, if anything, she's different than mina." jungwoo stated and turned around in his chair, now facing his brothers, "you know that jaeyoung is different, that's why you choose to hate on her."

"you remind me of renjun."

the two older boys snapped their head towards the younger one's direction, "he already met her?"

mark nodded, "yeah, the library."

doyoung scoffed, "renjun hates her, too? of course, what did i even expect, he's renjun, he sides with us."

jungwoo rolls his eyes at doyoung's statement, "shut up about sides. there aren't any sides here."

"and hate is a big word, that's too much." jungwoo adds.

mark agrees with jungwoo, "yeah, i think the right word is dislike?"

doyoung sighs, "whatever, i'll just go now."

"you know what you're going to do with taeyong now?"

doyoung shakes his head, "no. but i'll figure something, or else he might end up lashing out on the girl."

meanwhile, taeyong leaned against the railings as he stared openly at the mini flower field surrounding the little pond.

he felt his hand reach up to clutch the necklace he would always wear. it was a pendant necklace given to them by the queen, a present for the princes and mina, that was what it is. but after the incident, most of them disregarded the necklace. some took them off, kept it hidden in the rooms and some kept wearing it, afraid to let go of their past.

he was one of those who was afraid to accept the truth.

"daylight looks good on you, hyung." taeyong flinched and glanced back over his shoulder to find doyoung standing there, hands inside his pocket.

taeyong chuckled, "has it been so long since i came here?"

"since two years, i guess."

"i have something to ask you." taeyong opened up.

doyoung nearly choked on his own saliva upon hearing taeyong's words, "huh? why me? aren't you like supposed to say that to youngho... or ten... or like taeil?"

taeyong pressed his lips together, hesitating a bit, "supposed. but i trust you a lot, you know that."

"and it's been awhile since we actually talked to each other."

doyoung smiled bitterly, "yeah, mina caused that little separation."

"have you moved on already?" taeyong now faced him, his hand still clutched around the pendant necklace.

doyoung's eyes landed on taeyong's clutched hand and subconsciously reached up to touch his, "...is it bad if i said yes?" he questioned.

taeyong shook his head, "not really. it's actually relieving."

doyoung analyzed his brother's words only to gasp and stare wide eyed at the older, "d-don't tell me–"

"i'm finally letting go? maybe." taeyong scoffed and gripped onto the necklace, "i just realized how right the young ones were... the place beyond these palace walls are amazing, yet i chose to close that off for everyone..."

"hyung..."

"i'm letting go of the past, it's not worth it. she's not worth it."

"but you said–"

"i know what i said, doyoung. i said there would be no one entering this heart besides my family ever again."

"but i think, i just found someone who could."

doyoung was in utter shock, he couldn't comprehend whatever taeyong was telling him, it was all too sudden. "wha– why are you even telling me this?"

taeyong chuckled, letting go of the necklace, staring at doyoung, "cause i know you're like me, you're afraid to let go. you're also afraid to let someone in again, aren't you?"

doyoung scowled at his comment, his hand clenching the necklace tighter, "no. i've let go of that past a long time ago."

taeyong cocked a brow, "really? then tell me, why are you still holding onto that necklace?"

doyoung blinked, taken aback by taeyong's question. his eyes slowly trailed down to see his clutched hand, he immediately lets go of the jewelry, annoyed.

"that doesn't prove you anything."

taeyong pursed his lips in amusement, "yes it does."

doyoung was about to retort when minseok cleared his throat, catching their attention, "forgive me for interrupting, but your ride is ready."

taeyong tucked his hands in his pockets and started walking stopping next to doyoung, "let's go..." he whispered before walking off.
