ENDING : My First And Last3RD PERSONS VIEW.
people said it was fate, that these two happened to meet in the bustling streets of heflorescence – with the rebellious prince escaping the guarded palace walls through a secret opening and then meeting a simple baker who was only out to bring a basket of treats to a fellow store owner.
"youngie!" jaemin yelled out as he had just finished counting one to chittaphon. meanwhile, jaeyoung quickly ducked, trying to blend herself within the bushes as they were playing a good game of hide and seek.
the girl would occasionally glimpse up to check if the prince had found her yet, luckily, she was in a good hiding spot this time.
he won't find me, right? jaeyoung shook her head, hoping that it would take long for the boy to find her.
as she waited, she thought about the events that had happened during the past few days. it has been almost a year and jaeyoung was already feeling quite homesick.
life in valfied was different – very different. without at least eighteen princes and a pet tiger accompanying her, it felt lonely.
however, it wasn't always lonely. jaemin had been frequently visiting whenever he could, sometimes he would be with his brothers, but oftentimes alone.
today, jaemin had decided to stay the weekends at valfield, wanting to grow more closer to jaeyoung. at first, his other brother's were totally against with him going alone and hogging the girl all to himself, but they have come to understand how much serious he was with his feelings for jaeyoung.
jaemin strolled around the courtyard, taking his time with finding the girl. it was quite of an irony – to think that he was trying to find jaeyoung right now brings him back to the time they finally found princess haera. it was like time going back again.
"hmm where could the jae to my min be?" he said with a sly grin. his eyes skimmed past the bushes, seeing a light blue patch of color behind one of the open spots of leaves. he chuckled silently, knowing that the color was obviously coming from jaeyoung's dress.
jaeyoung's breath hitched as she cupped her mouth, not wanting to emit any form of sound as she could possibly win if jaemin wasn't able to find her within fifteen minutes.
it had only been ten minutes yet she could feel her nerves kicking in out of nowhere. out of the games they have played – so far she had only won at least three out of seven games.
well, jaemin was one of the born prodigies. oh boy was he talented and full of surprises. not only that, whenever jaeyoung visits heflorescence, she would always watch the boys play games with each other. she even noted down not to group donghyuck and jaemin or jaemin and chenle together –actually, scratch that– don't group the younger kids all together.
they were like a power team, always winning against the older ones. jaeyoung couldn't really tell whether the older ones were going easy on their younger brothers or they were just really that good.
jaemin hummed and waited in front of the bushes, maintaining a quite suitable distance from it as he smirked, peering down on his watch he pouted, "time's up, youngie! you win–"
"ha! i knew it! i would w— wha- YOU KNEW WHERE I WAS HIDING ALL ALONG!?" she jumped up before her face fell surprised, seeing the prince standing in front with hands on both sides of his waist.
"found you!" he smiled at her – that ever so loving, friendly smile she had always adored. face heating up, she looked down to see a few minutes left, which mean jaemin actually won and not her.
"na jaemin!" a whine left her lips as she stomped towards the boy, squinting her eyes at him. "that's unfair—"
"we don't even have game rules- we just agreed on hide and seek. and that was my technique." he retorted playfully as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder, "guess i win again."
"please- tell me something i don't know." jaeyoung huffed, knowing very well that he would most likely win.
"i like you."
she froze in her spot, red dusting her soft cheeks as she looked up, locking eyes with the prince. it felt so surreal. her heart was beating uncontrollably fast, time felt so slow the longer they stared at each other's eyes, finding themselves lost yet their souls tangled.
looking into jaemin's eyes felt like everything was going back to the start – the day they first met each other.
"i like you so much and i don't really want to rush anything, but i want you to know that as the first prince you've met, i want to be not only first in your heart but also the last."
she swallowed down, looking away as she took a deep breath. "i-i like you too..." she said softly, hiding her face by looking down but eventually he made her face him.
"you actually won another game, jaeyoung."
she furrowed her brows together, "what do you mean?"
"may i kiss you?" he questioned with a smile, not breathing eye contact. the girl felt more heat rush up to her face but agreed nevertheless, "you may."
they slowly inched closer until the gap between them closes, their lips latching together as they shared a sweet, innocent kiss.
pulling away with their foreheads still touching, taking a few short breaths as jaemin finally said,
"you won first place in my heart."
