Twelve

"Hey, are you feeling better this morning?" Calum asks as Skye exits her room.

"Ya, a little bit. Sorry about last night. If I was blubbering or unprofessional." She smiles awkwardly at him.

"Don't sweat it. Like I said, I want to be your friend too, Skye. Not just your boss. Hell, I hate even calling myself someones boss. I'm twenty-four years old. You may work for me, but I want this to be a friendship not just a professional relationship, okay?"

"Okay." She nods, taking the to-go cup of coffee he hands her.

"The car is waiting for us downstairs. Um, did you get anything together for Nika today?"

"Ya, I have a bag and some clothes for her. I'm ready." She nods, turning to show him the backpack on her back.

"Great. We should probably head out then." He nods, annoyed that the conversation has felt awkward between them. He was hoping last night was a good thing not a bad thing, but Skye is giving off the vibe that she regrets letting him in so much, and he doesn't like that at all.

"Am I headed out a different door than you still?" Skye asks as they head for the elevator.

"No. The car is out back so we should be fine. Especially since we don't have Nika this morning and it's early as fuck."

"Okay." She nods. The conversation dying completely, much to Calum's distaste. Hopefully it's just early and she's just tired...

Security is waiting at the elevator when they reach the lobby. Guiding them both silently through the hotel and out a back door. Skye jumps quite harshly as a bright light flashes from a small distance away.

"Fuck, it's okay. Just a camera." Calum laughs, reaching out to steady her softly.

"It's too fucking early for strobe lights." She chuckles, "Sorry."

"You're good. You aren't used to this kind of thing, don't apologize for the disturbances my life cause you." He laughs, letting her climb into the SUV before him, taking the seat beside her since they will have to fill every seat but the one with Nika's car seat in it.

"I thought they were waiting on us? We are the first ones down here." She laughs.

"Well, guess they are all more tired than we are. Or at least less punctual. We were all supposed to be down here about five minutes ago." Calum chuckles. 

"I could have slept another five minutes?" She half grumbles half laughs.

"You can sleep now if you want. We are headed like an hour outside of the city." He shrugs.

"I can't sleep in the car, too cramped." she sighs.

"Um, you know tour buses are a huge part of my living situation right?" He asks nervously.

"That will be different. On a bus there are bunks, and couches, not just a seat, squished in beside another seat and person. I'll be fine on a tour bus." She laughs, "calm down."

"Just making sure. Things have been too good to be true so far, I was afraid that would be what hit and broke this thing we have going." he chuckles.

"I wouldn't have applied if I wasn't cool with travel and all the things that include. I just don't sleep well in a normal car. Calm down, Calum, you aren't getting rid of me that easy." She smirks.

"I'd like if you stayed right here actually. Thanks."

"Sorta stuck aren't I?" She motions to his long legs blocking the exit from the backseat.

"Just as you should be." He smirks, shifting his legs ever so slightly further out to emphasize his statement.

"Fuck off." She laughs, shoving his shoulder softly.

The day is fairly uneventful for Skye, hanging out in the small town Calum grew up in with Nika while the band film a video for their next single.

Spending time with Nika and Calum's mom who is a wonderful and kind soft spoken woman. It's easy for Skye to see all the good traits Calum learned from her. He seems to emulate her same demeanor in his own life. She's almost sad when it's time to head back into the city, having to leave behind such a calm and enjoyable day with Joy.

"Calum, did you know you're trending today?" Luke laughs as the SUV pulls away from the curb.

"I am? Why?"

"Fuck, it's not a good thing." Luke's voice shifts suddenly.

"Why?" Calum's voice fills with concern suddenly.

"Look. Skye should look too." Luke frowns handing the phone back to them. Skye quickly leaning over Calum's shoulder to see the screen. A picture of the two of them from this morning topping the article.

Calum Hood spotted with unknown woman in Sydney!

Early Wednesday morning Calum Hood (5sos) was seen leaving out the back of the band hotel in downtown Sydney. A young woman with dark hair leaving the building beside him. But who is the mystery woman?

Some photo match search engines put the likelihood of the woman being 24 year old American, Skye Daniels at 87% match. Daniels hails from Utah, USA and according to her LinkedIn profile is a childcare professional with 5-10 years experience.

The two were seen together as they left the hotel 5sos has been stay at while in Sydney for the Fire Fight Festival. The band is also rumored to be filming a Music Video for a single of their upcoming album CALM.

Is Calum Hood seeing someone? Is he dating a professional Nanny? And if it is true what do you, the fans, think of this news?

"How the fuck did they get my name and information?" Skye asks, her eyes looking up to meet Calum's.

"This fucker, he always tries to ruin us. He's a real asshole. He will dig up any shit he can find. And unfortunately he found you..."

"Calum, this could be bad. What if people start following me, and find out about Nika. I don't want to do that to you or her." Skye turns to him quickly.

"We'll be extra careful. And hope no one else gets anything that would blow this up. Luckily a lot of the fans already know this guys is just out to destroy us. But girlfriend rumors are not going to be let go lightly either..."

"Maybe Nika and I need to get on a flight home a day before you do. Just for extra precautions. Just to make sure no one links her to you because of me." Skye sighs, looking over at the little girl dozing in her car seat.

"That might be a good idea. Fuck, this is all my fault. I should have known we wouldn't be safe here. Jayden is always looking for us, ready to spill anything he can get on us." Calum groans, tossing Luke's phone back to him.

"Hey, get Nate to figure out that flight change, Calum. You don't want Nika being discovered, and definitely not because of Jayden." Ashton frowns back at his friend.

"Ya... I'll text him." Calum sighs.

Skye frowns as she studies the crease forming across his forehead, reaching out softly to rub his knee. "I'm sorry." She mouths when he looks up at her.

He gives her a kind yet defeated smile, squeezing her hand once before going back to his phone.
