Skye laughs at her cousins comment, but also hopes Calum doesn't see it. It's true, when she had first got to know the band and fallen in love with their music she had definitely gravitated towards Calum. His voice was beautiful, and his personality seemed to radiate kindness and calm, both things she needed a lot of at the time. And to this day she definitely finds him good looking, but she doesn't need her boss to know she thinks that. It would mess with the professionalism of her job. What if he found it weird, or it made things awkward and ended up losing her her job? She needs her job more than ever right now.
"Skye, can we go outside?" Nika pulls on her arm.
"If you clean up all your toys, can't leave a mess behind us." She nods, locking her phone and turning back to the toddler.
Calum sent the two of them home a couple days before the band, luckily without incident. He is due home this evening. It sucked to lose out on a couple more days in Sydney, but she also knew it was the right choice for Nika, and Nika is why she is employed so she is the one who is important. Besides, it sounds like they should be back in Sydney later in the year for some shows, she'll be able to see more of the city and Australia as a whole then.
"All clean!" Nika yells excitedly as she finishes loading the blocks into the container against the wall in her room.
"Find your shoes and we can go play out back for a while. Daddy is going to be home tonight, Nika, are you excited to see him?"
"Yes!" She grins, pulling some sandals from the closet and asking with her eyes for help getting them on her feet correctly.
"Alright, cute girl, lets go play on the swings." Skye chuckles, helping slide the shoes onto Nika's feet.
"Lets go!" she giggles, yanking on Skye's arm until she follows her out of the room and through the house.
Nika bolts for the slide on her playset as soon as they are outside, climbing up and go down the slide a million times in a row like always. Asking Skye to cheer for her each time. Every once in a while changing things up by going on her tummy or with her legs thrown over the edges. Giggles bursting from the little girls lips as she plays.
"Look at me, Skye! I'm gonna do it standing!" Nika yells.
"Nika, NO!" Skye panics, jumping from her chair on the patio as the little girl falls as she tries to run down the slide, landing on her hands and knees at the end of the slide.
