Susanna's POV
I was getting to meet up with my sister (just not by birth), bestest friend ever, since I was back home. We were exchanging our Christmas presents today. Joey and Donald had been gone about 15 minutes by now.
I handed her gift to her, it was in a blue and green chevron striped tote bag. She had brought me my gift too, handing it to me across the table we had chosen. It was wrapped in beautiful red shiny wrapping paper that had white snowflakes on it, and a snowy blue tag. The part I didn't like .... the envelope that read "Don't Open Till Christmas" then in smaller writing near the bottom "Not even the present".
I looked over at her, "Ahh... Lynn! That's not fair." I resisted the urge to make a pouty face at her. But just barely. I looked the present over and saw that she had taped it really well. She got up to go get something and I felt like the package was burning into my mind and hands, I am just so curious... I even shake the present. In the midst of my shuffling the envelope came unstuck on one side from the package and I couldn't resist the urge to peek at the back side of the envelope. It read "Jesus will be watching" and she had drawn a smiley face Angel. I plopped the gift into the chair beside me and rested my chin in my hands. About this time she came back and I glanced at her... "You know me too well!"
Lynn and I talked a little while longer, and time passed so quickly soon we were heading home. She's my neighbor so, she's going to drop me off at my house on the way to her's. We parted ways, and made plans to hang out again soon. I had put all of my stuff on the front porch and knocked on the front door. My parents came rushing to the door and flung open the door, wrapping me in a huge big group hug.
It was good to be home again.
Joey's POV
Time seemed to poke on by. Donald moved the stuff out of the front seat and put in the back at our next stop. I knew he had done that on purpose, sticking me and Sus together. I came around and got in the front passenger seat, then we were on the road again.
Finally we reached the Ohio state line and I felt relieved enough to start pestering Donald again, "So Donald... you seemed interested in Lynn back there."
Donald kept his eyes locked on the road, but I noticed his hands grip the wheel a little harder than before. "Lynn, who?"
"As if you don't know. Susanna's friend!" I said punching his shoulder, laughing.
"Well, I just met her, so there. At least I'm not falling for a girl and don't even have the guts to tell her that." Donald said hotly.
I fell silent and the rest of the ride home was deadly silent as well.
"Dude. I'm sorry. That was too harsh of me." Donald said as we pulled in the driveway of our parents' house.
"I forgive you." I said hastily as I jumped out of the car and started unloading things out of it like a mad man. Was I really falling for Susie? Was I too afraid to admit it? Even to myself?
