Joey's POV
There must be some sort of a road block up ahead. Traffic was really backed up right now. I tried to strain my neck and catch a glimpse of what was going on. I spotted the cause of the hold up... there had been a car accident. My heart felt like it stopped and sank. A familiar green classic car lay on the side of the road on it's top.
By the grace of God, I was able to get off the road and park my car in a safe place. And I ran. Ran like I don't think I have ever before in my whole life. I closed the distance in a matter of no time and I struggled to get close enough to make sure. Maybe. Just maybe that wasn't her car. Maybe it was just one that looked like it. Something in me kept saying otherwise though.
Then I spotted the license plate on the front. It was pink with a pair of boots on it and read, 'Thank God I'm A Christian Country Girl!' That sealed it in my mind. I remembered spotting it on her car earlier in the week. I heard someone scream out, "Susanna!" Only to realize it was me. One of the paramedics, was rushing over with a policeman. "Was the person in the accident a woman by the name of Susanna Stephens?"
The police man stopped in his tracks, completely taken by surprise. "Yes, do you know the young lady?"
"Yes. I'm here... Well I... we..." I stampered for the right words.
"I understand... Come on, son. You can ride in the ambulance with her." The policeman said kindly. I sent of a quick text to Donald telling him what happened and asking him to come and get my car, when he got the chance.
*Later at the hospital*
It hurt so much to watch her just lying still in that bed. Why wouldn't she just wake up already. Would she even remember anything when she did? My heart was aching. True, I hadn't known her for a very long time but we had really became fast friends. I just kept praying that God wouldn't take her. As I knelt beside her hospital bed, praying another heart felt prayer for God to heal her, I hands on either shoulder and one on my back.
I turned my head, to find that Alan was to my left, Caleb to my right, and Chad had his hand on my back. He looked me, straight in the eyes. "We're here for you buddy. Let's pray together. All the wives are at home sending up prayers too. There's already been several prayer chain's started. God's got her in His hands."
