(Jared)
Evan wasn't at school today. I looked all over for him. I was late to every class that I didn't have with him. Hoping I would spot him in the hall on the way to his next class. I never did.
When the final bell rang I ran out to my car. I jumped in, fumbled with the keys for about 30 seconds, started the car, and drove to Evan's house as quickly as I could, cursing myself for losing any extra time.
Then I was standing in front of the Hansen's door. I knocked calmly, hoping if he didn't know it was me he would answer. When he didn't, I knocked harder. Still no answer.
"Evan! Open the door!" I hit the door as hard as I could. He still wasn't answering. He had to be home, he had to be. "Evan open the door now!" What could have happened? Please don't let him be hurt. Please, please, please. "EVAN!" I continued knocking as hard as I could. Tears were now flowing down my face at a rapid pace. "Ev please!"
Then the door opened quickly. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the ghostly boy in front of me. He was paler than normal, his hair was a mess, there were bags under his eyes and he was wearing an oversized sweatshirt. He looked like he'd been crying for hours, but he showed no emotion. He looked like a hollow, completely empty shell of the Evan I once knew.
I was so overwhelmed with relief that he wasn't dead, before I knew what I was doing I rushed forward, grabbed his face and kissed him. The thing I'd been wanting to do for so long. I hadn't meant to do it now, but it was too late to go back. I blushed a dark red and pulled away. I sobbed and hugged him tightly. "Evan I missed you so much! I thought you were dead when you didn't show up today! Why did you leave? Why did you shut me out?"
Before I knew it, his hands were gripping my shoulders and we were face to face. His face had changed, I couldn't tell what he was thinking, but it had changed for sure. He pushed me out the door, and slammed it in my face.
