Alone(A Fourtris Story)

18:Friday at home

It's Friday now and school just ended. We all talk for a while before we need to leave. Tobias climbs in the car with me and I drive us home.

I pull up in the driveway and walk inside. Throwing my bag on the ground, I walk into the kitchen because I'm hungry. I throw the fridge open and it's... empty. A note sits in the middle of the fridge and I pull it out.

Bea,
There's no more food. if your hungry go to the store.

Sighing I tell Tobias where I'm going and walk out the door.

I walk Into the store and grab a cart. strolling down the isles. My eyes scan the shelves, looking for anything appealing. Since I was so fouoused on the food lining the shelves I ran into someone. The person, an older woman, dropped her purse on the ground, causing papers to scatter everywhere. We bend down and pick them up. I look up and see blue eyes, the same shade as Tobias'.

"I'm so sorry! I'm such a klutz " I say as the lady, long grey hair done up in a simple bun, laughs.

"It's alright." she laughs, waving her hand " it happens to the best of us"

"Haha yeah I suppose so" I say " I haven't seen you around here before are you new to the area?" I ask

"Yes actually I am I moved here from Florida"

"That's cool" I say " I have to get going. It was nice meeting you..."

"Evelyn" she says. I freeze

"Evelyn? Evelyn Eaton?" I question hesitantly

"Johnson technically. But yes, why do you ask?"

"Do you happen to have a son?" I ask

"Tobias yes." she says " do you know him?"

"Um... yes and uh " I start " He thinks you're dead" Her face contorts and she looks utterly shocked

"He does?" She asks, I nod " I told him to say I left" she mutters

"Well maybe you can get together with him"I suggest

" That would be great" she exclaims. We exchange numbers and I tell her that I'll call her. Now how to tell Tobias?

All the way home I debate about how to tell Tobias his mothers alive. I mean it's not like you can google search 'how to tell your boyfriend his dead mother is actually alive and that she abandoned him'.

I pull up into the driveway and grab the food out of the back. Opening the doors, I put the food away and begin trying to find Tobias. He sits in the living room on the couch watching a cooking show. I walk into the room and he turnstile head toward me.

"Hey" he says
"Heyyyyyyyy" I reply nervously

"What's up?" He asks

"Um- well ugh" I start "I- I met someone... Interesting at the store"

"Okayyyyy... who" he asks . I plop down on the couch and put my head in my hands

"Um okay don't... Don't freak out but-" I start but I am cut off by Caleb.

"HONEY IM HOMEEEE" he shouts causing us to laugh as he walks up to his room.

"Okay so... um the person I met was um" i sigh " it was your mother Tobias" I mutter. I risk a glance at his face and wish I hadn't. He looks shocked, his deep blue eyes are watery but no tears spill down. I place my hand on top of his and wrap my arms around him. He burrows his head in my hair and holds me tightly to him. My hair becomes wet with tears as his body shakes with uneven breathing.

"Hey, hey. It's okay" I whisper " your alright"

"What-" he starts but can't finish

"I ran into her at the store... literally...and she introduced herself and said..." I sigh " she said that she told Marcus to tell you she left but I guess he wouldn't have admitted that." I say

"She left? Voluntarily?" He asks "Why would she leave?" He sobs into my hair

" I don't know but I intend to find out"
