Kayla, Braixen, Exploud, and Lucario trek side-by-side on a wide path through the desert.
BRAIXEN
I wonder why they call it Doomdune Desert.
EXPLOUD
IT'S BECAUSE OF THE ALARMING AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT DIE HERE.
DEWOTT
Jeez, how is your throat not dry?
BRAIXEN
Why do so many people die in this desert, Exploud?
EXPLOUD
THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO WATER. NONE. A BIT OF FRUIT, SURE, BUT NOT A DROP TO DRINK.
DEWOTT
(Alarmed)
If there's no water, then how are we supposed to survive?!
Lucario sighs annoyedly.
DEWOTT
What?!
LUCARIO
We have an infinite water source, Kayla...
DEWOTT
We do?
LUCARIO
(Impatient)
Let me say that differently. We have an infinite water source: Kayla.
DEWOTT
Oh. When are we arriving at Kana Canyon? We don't really have any time to waste.
BRAIXEN
Kayla's right. It must've taken Medicham at least a day and a half to get to Treasure Town from the canyon, and we'll take at least that long too..
LUCARIO
That's a good point. Meditite could be dead by now.
EXPLOUD
DON'T BE A NEGATIVE NELLY, LUCARIO! THERE'S NO REASON THAT ANY POKEMON WOULD KILL A MEDITITE.
DEWOTT
Helloooooo... Haven't you heard of predators?
EXPLOUD
PREDATORS?
DEWOTT

BRAIXEN

Dewott's jaw hangs open until she realizes that animals from Earth don't exist in this plane of existence.
DEWOTT
(Sarcastically)
They're magical beings. Kind of like a cross between a goblin and a unicorn.
BRAIXEN
(Mutters)
I don't know what either of those things are...
The four Pokemon walk together in silence for a few seconds.
LUCARIO
It's getting late.
DEWOTT
No cheese, Sherlock.
LUCARIO
Don't insult me. We should set up camp.
