Mathematics

  • Dedicated to My upcoming maths and science exams: please be kind!

This poem does not necessarily present an accurate representation of maths and those who study it, so if you're a maths fan like me then please don't be offended!  ;)

Untucked shirt

And scruffy beard,

Pepper and salt

On black.

Whiteboard clean,

Brains all blank,

Ready for what we love and hate.

Knowledge, learning,

Figures and stuff.

Data and stats;

Mathematical fluff.

Algorithms scrawled,

On aching brains.

Pens travelling down

Papered lanes.

ODEs, DNEs,

That’s what’ll get your PHDs.

But what about the REAL world,

How does this stuff help?!

Forget Real life!

It never follows,

Our complex and brilliant models.

Our maths is beautiful,

Perfect, clean,

The only problem,

Is reality!

So come,

Stay here with us!

And hide from all the fuss,

In our realm

Of Imaginary.
