after school, everyone went home to get ready for our small little backyard gathering.its late fall but the cold rarely affects any of us.julia and I made a pack a couple of weeks ago that we'd where shorts until the first snow. kaya and I have slipped into this human life like nothing else even happened I was never a trained killer I never had to beat up Chris, of course, it did happen and I'm not trying to forget my past... I just want to focus on my future. I plop myself down on my purple bedspread staring around my little piece of heaven. I've got little photo strips of Kayden and I at the mall's little photo both and posters of various bands that Julia likes mostly one direction. shes played them so much I could probably recite all the words to almost every song. I've got a string of lights with little hangers that I hang the birthday letters from magnolia Alice and...Chris.I lay down on my bed my head hitting the pillow. I stare up at the ceiling that Jeannie and Richard allowed Julia to paint the great oaks of alzar and the glasshouses over the sparkling river where she painted glimmering tails of all colours slightly obscured by the rushing water. she even painted a group on one of the bridges 4 girls one with bright pink hair another with golden-red hair the last 2 with coal-black hair and 2 boys one with golden hair and the other with dark black hair. I stare up at the dark-haired boy his hair the only feature I could see. I knew what he looked like through his face often danced behind my eyelids at night. Chris. I liked Kayden he was sweet and romantic and shy but Chris well...Chris is Chris. I bring my hand up to close around the dark green stone the last real thing I had from alzar we had to burn the clothes we came in incase of tracking. The necklace lays perfectly across I set of claw scars on my chest from the first time kaya changed the first set of scars I had gotten in a fight. I feel like crying remembering all the times I had gone to Chris for comfort and support.

there's a knock on the door. I sit up quickly wiping at my eyes making sure no tears are visible."Clair can I come in?" its Kayden. I  suddenly feel guilty for even thinking of Chris. "yeah" I call out forcing a smile onto my face. He steps in coming to sit beside me. he smiles "that's a beautiful necklace" "thank you," I say shyly. "you ready to come out and see everyone?" I nod standing up and glancing once over my shoulder at the letters. someone has died magnolia is not well. I can't wait until tomorrow I have to contact them tonight after the party. I walk through the house and out into the backyard where everyone is sitting around the bonfire casting its orange-red glow over everything.the sun has just started to set slipping beneath the trees. there's a table beside the fire with a beautiful chocolate cake and three of Jeannie homemade pizzas. she walks over and hugs me." clarity you are like a daughter to me I'm so happy you made it into our lives" she kisses my forehead "here's your present" she hands me a small gift-wrapped box I thank her and Richard and they go inside. "presents!" Julia screams running over and dragging me over to the table. I sit down in one of the fold-out chairs and everyone sits around us. I slowly unwrapped the gift from Jeannie and Richard "what's this?" I hold up a bok with a picture of another box on it. julia shrieks "you got a phone!!! we can text and talk all the time!" she holds out her hand "I'll putt all our numbers on it" I handed the "phone" to her and she got to work on it right away. I picked up the gift from Kayden and again Julia is hanging over my shoulder "oh my god" she whispers when she sees the gift. "yesssssss!!!!!!!" I look down at the gift three tickets to a one direction show "I saw all the posters and thought you might like to see them in person...you could go with kaya and jewels" he says shyly "do you like it?" he asks I grin "of course I like it" I say and give him a quick kiss "thank you" he blushed deeply looking down at the ground "no problem". julia shows her present at me." open it!"  a pair of cleats! "that's perfect!thanks!" I smile at her.

by the end of presents, I have gotten a phone, tickets to a one direction show in Vancouver, new soccer cleats, 100 bucks, a hand made soccer bag for all my stuff and I big box of chocolate that we have eaten half of. the pizzas are gone a little while after that then the cake. now we all sit in our fold-up chairs around the blazing fire. I turn my phone over the screen lights up and I almost through it.the picture is of Kayden and I kissing after he gave me the tickets I smile slightly. it's 11:06."hey Clair?" Carly asks "hmm" I look up trying to hide that I wasn't listening at all to what anyone was saying "you necklace is glowing" I look down at it she was right I was giving off a faint green glow I wave it off "things from alzar glow sometimes" "when they glow do people show up out of the blue behind you" everyone looked terrified. I slowly turn in my seat. "Alice?" I whisper when I see the girl in a ragged purple dress. then she fell to the ground I jump up running to her side. I check her pulse...steady.Anthony runs over "holy crap this is her isn't it?!" I nod "did she faint?!" Kayden says a worried look on his face "yeah let's get her inside" I say and with Anthony's help, we carried her inside.
