Matilda had been told she had Cyrokinesis, the ability to control, generate, or absorb ice. She found it odd, as it was not given a name on her planet. It was simply an abomination.

Her people usually did not have abilities. If they did, it was as simple as creating small forms of ice to be put into desserts and drinks. No one had the power to create a snowstorm or rain ice shards as she did.

She stuck close to Bucky after he had given her a name. She wasn't sure if she was grateful to be given a name or not, but she learned it was a very important earth custom.

She wasn't there to be trained, but after Sam had startled her and ice shards erupted from the floor of the compound, Bucky decided she would need it.

They spent sessions together alone, as Matilda was uncomfortable with people watching. They would meet someplace that felt peaceful to her, such as the garden.

She loved smelling the fresh flowers and freshly mowed lawn. She noticed that the grass was steadily growing over the burnt stigma she left on the lawn. She would have to sit under a parasol in order to not faint underneath the heat.

Her definition of heat was Bucky's definition was normal. Occasionally, she would distract him with stories of her planet - how the temperatures went well below negative, how her people could wear shorts and frilly dresses without feeling cold, and how their frozen desserts were well-known.

He knew well of her plans to distract him from teaching her to control her powers, but he would give her the benefit of the doubt from time to time when he was feeling generous.

She was so new to the ways of earth, that it almost reminded him of Steve if he wasn't born on earth. He had no problem with telling her stories of the Avengers, as Steve had told him countless times.

When she was feeling brave, she would ask him about himself, but he would distract her by pointing to an interesting flower in front of them. It worked like a charm each time.

Whenever she examined the flower he pointed at, he would watch the sunlight against part of her face as she leaned forward, pass what the parasol could cover. Then, she would retreat back dejectedly when she was feeling a bit faint. He would then offer her the glass of lemonade that was always prepared for her. What started as the glass of lemonade being prepped by one of the personal chefs turned into him preparing it for her.
