Ch.7 Rest

(I honestly don't know how to feel about this)

"You're....the end of my string"

Y/n felt her mask crumble little by little, her surprised face showing more and more.

Giyuu watched as Y/n's eyes became wide with surprise.

They both stood silent as Y/n followed the string over and over, confirming her accusation.

"I'm not what you expected at all, right?"

Giyuu looked over at his pinky with a string that stretched over to Y/n's pinky.

"Not at all....I just-"
Y/n felt her cheeks become wet. She moved a hand towards her face and found herself to be crying warm tears.

Her face had went back to being emotionless so she was confused as to why she was crying and why she couldn't stop.

Giyuu, as a matter of fact, could not believe the scene that was unfolding before him.
Only moments ago, he had confirmed that his fate was this girl.

And here she was, crying in front of him.

He did the only thing he could do and pulled her into a soft and warm hug.
His eyes widened at his own actions, but in that moment all he wanted to do was comfort the crying girl.

Y/n, too, became surprised by this action.
However, her face didn't show it.

"Oh my! You lovebirds are already at it?"
A woman's voice spoke from the doorway to the room.

Giyuu quickly pulled away from Y/n, wiping the remainder of her tears away.

Y/n and Giyuu both looked towards the voice, finding the insect pillar standing with a smile on her face. She wore a butterfly hairpin similar to the other hairpin she saw at the final selection.

"Jeez, Tomioka-San, I know you told me she was your fate, but you just met her yesterday."
She walked towards us, keeping her same smile.

"You're really pretty, aren't you?"
The Hashira stopped in between Giyuu and Y/n, taking a closer look at Y/n

Y/n looked at the Hashira, her face blank, but red from crying.

"I'm Shinobu."

"I'm Y/n"

Shinobu smiled warmly at Y/n.
"I was quite surprised when Tomioka-San suddenly came to my mansion with you in his arms."

Giyuu looked at Shinobu.
"I couldn't just leave her there."

"Yes, but her Kasugai crow could've sent for a Medical team to pick her up."

"They would have been too late by the time they arrived."

Giyuu and Shinobu argued back and forth, explaining how Y/n's could've been saved in many different ways that didn't include Giyuu.

"Listen, my string is connected to hers so therefore, I will be the one to protect her."
Giyuu spoke honestly and Shinobu could feel it.

"I never took you for the possessive type, Tomioka-San. But even so, you only just met her a couple of days ago. Why don't you let her decide whether she wants to be protected or not?"

Giyuu went silent for a few moments before looking at Y/n and her beautiful mismatched eyes.
Shinobu followed, looking at Y/n as well.

"I wish to learn more about Tomioka-San."

For the first time in a while, Y/n took off her mask and smiled.
Giyuu felt his heart flutter at the sight of
Y/n's warm smile and wished he could see it everyday.

"Well then, since you're currently healing, I suggest that Tomioka-San and Y/n-Chan stay here until I finish my current mission. I'll send a Crow to the master and explain the situation. You'll just have to hope he'll let you stay with your fate until I return."

"Thank you Shinobu."

"Please don't mind it. I just want to help my friend."
She smiled warmly at Giyuu.
"Now, if you don't mind, Tomioka-San, I'd like to speak to Y/n-Chan alone."

Giyuu looked at Y/n one last time before getting up from the bed and leaving the room.

"So, Y/n-Chan, I know you only met Tomioka-San just a few moments ago, but how do you feel about him being on the end of of your string?"

"I don't exactly know. I know that he's supposed to be my fate, but it's just very sudden."

"I see."

"But, even so, I would like to get to know him. He seems very kind."
Y/n smiled to herself and slowly put her mask back on.

"I know it seems rushed, and that's ok. Most slayers happen to meet their fate on the battlefield."
Shinobu looked at Y/n.

"I believe you're the best person for Tomioka-San."
She smiled before walking out of the room and moments later Giyuu came walking back in.

He sat on Y/n's bed again.
"I'm sorry. I know this isn't the best circumstance for us to meet, but we now have time to get to know each other."

He looked at Y/n, finding her beautiful eyes once again.

"It's ok. I want to know more about you anyway."
