His voice is warm and husky like dark melted chocolate fudge caramel... or something

[Is what I wanted to name this chapter, but noo it was too long]

MC had slept in, she felt that she would need the extra sleep tonight. She woke up at the ripe hour of 11 o'clock. She sat up and held her head. She didn't stay up the night before, so she had gained a lovely headache as a testament to her sudden influx of rest.

She stood up and stared out the window. She was still at Rika's apartment. Maybe one day she'd be allowed to go home for good.

Not even checking her phone, she trudged out of her bedroom to start her morning routine. After that, she found herself sitting at her kitchen table with her hands around a cup of coffee, trying to power through her discomfort. She felt like a crabby Karen after her child lost their most recent soccer game.

A few moments later, she heard her phone ringing from its spot on her nightstand. She sighed and stood up, not wanting to miss the call. She grabbed her phone and hit "answer" before she could even see who it was.

"Hello?"

"Oh, good! It works for you, too!" A happy voice exclaimed from the other end of the line.

"I'm sorry, who is this? I picked up the phone before looking at the caller id."

"Defender of Justice, 707! I just implemented the code that gives you a messenger-specific phone number!"

"Oh," She said with a smile," Thank you."

"So..." Seven excitedly begged the question: "How! Does! My! Voice! Sound!?"

"How! Does! My! Voice! Sound?"

"Ah, so pretty~" Seven complimented. "It's refreshing for my ears. They say coffee is like a palette cleanser, right? Your voice is coffee~"

"I think I've heard that," She agreed, sitting down on her bed." Your voice is wonderful, too."

"Oh, thank you," He said, a bashful tone behind his words.

She giggled softly, her heart fluttering. "You're welcome."

"I wish I could see you in person, it would be a lot easier." Seven admitted suddenly.

"Oh?"

"I can't see you, so it's usually a lot harder to keep a train of thought... I say usually because that's not happening right now." He realized.

"Is that a compliment?" She asked, leaning back and spreading her body across the covers.

"I have no clue."

"You should figure that out."

"Yeah... Oh! Wait, can I tell you something?" Seven suddenly said enthusiastically.

"Shoot." MC couldn't help but be intrigued by what Seven might have to say. Of course, she'd pay attention to anything he said.

"Last night I had a dream that we met. You were mad for some reason, and you slapped me. I asked you why you were so mad, and you told me that I wasn't much of a fish. I was hurt at the time, but now I realize that it makes no sense."

"I don't know, that seems like a valid concern. I do prefer fish to humans."

"I can be a fish for you! Blub blub!"

"Seven? Where'd you go?" She faked concern.

"I'm still here!!" He said, joking along with her.

"Oh, good. I don't know what I'd do without my Sevvy." She teased (though she did like calling him Sevvy).

"S-Sevvy?" He sputtered. "You're too much."

"I'm not taking it back." She persisted.

"I-I have to go. Before you break me."

"It was nice talking to you." She sat up and leaned forwards, resting her head in her hand.

"Yep! I'll call you again some time!" And he hung up.

She sighed happily and set her phone down on the bed. She stared at the wall for a minute, then it clicked.

She had a crush on Seven.

She smiled nervously, then picked up a pillow so she could bury her face in it. "Already catching feelings?" She muttered to herself. "It's been two days!!"

She groaned, then tossed the pillow back in place. It was too early for this. She pocketed her phone, then walked back into the kitchen and took a seat with her coffee. This wasn't too bad, she was just wondering how she was going to deal with these feelings. She wasn't too concerned about the agency, she assumed Seven would understand the complications that come with that job; plus the agency (at least the division she worked in) seemed to be very open about allowing the spies to have their own lives outside of work. But it hurt for the time being.

Was he flirting back? When she teased him, did he feel the same flutter? The same hype deep down inside?

God, it would be nice to be with him right now... Imagine, you think he likes coffee? Would he sit here with her? Would they share some barely coherent conversation in the early hours of the morning?

It was almost too much for her, but she knew that she had to get it all out before her mission. One error could cost her, and Seven could be that error.

So, she went back into her daydreams.
