That night, things were back to normal. For the moment, at least.

She was back at work and in her usual uniform, though not at her desk. She was on her way to a location she hadn't yet been told about. All she had been told was that she needed to lock-pick a cabinet and grab a file.

And that there was going to be trouble.

She had "shut off" her mind, if you could call it that. She wasn't really seeing the world for how it should be seen, she just saw threats and non-threats. Her vision barely had time to focus before she would move onto the next thing. Like when you get very into a video game, except the video game was real life.

The group stopped at the building. MC looked up at it. It wasn't gigantic or anything, but it was big enough that if she fell she would be seriously hurt. As she gawked, she was handed a packet of papers. Everyone was. Her boss flipped to a page in her packet, then pointed at a room. She nodded, then took out a pen and circled it. It was on one of the top floors, but that wouldn't be a problem for her.

Her boss motioned for them to go, and she took off for the building next door.  It was a bakery, a small bakery. A bakery that didn't have good security inside. Much less on the outside.

She scaled the fire escape relatively fast, then found herself on the roof. She judged the distance, then backed up. It was going to be a tough jump. Using all her power, she took a running leap for the other building. The world was silent as she soared through the air, fearing for her life if she would even make it.

Finally, she neared the building. She reached out her hands and prepared for the worst. Luckily, she landed on the building (which was accompanied by an unexpected somersault), which garnered a thankful sigh. She stood, brushing off her clothes. Now that she was here, all she had to do was enter the building and get the file.

Looking around, she spotted a door that she assumed led inside. She twisted the handle, and unsurprisingly it wasn't open. She looked around again and spotted a vent. It was just barely small enough for her to fit inside. She hopped up and slid inside, not really knowing where it would take her.

She hit the bottom with a loud thud. She tensed, waiting for someone to say something that suggested she was a goner. One minute... Two minutes... Three minutes is when she decided she was okay. She started crawling through the vents, paying attention to the openings beneath her.

Finally, she reached the room she needed to be in. She silently opened the vent and dropped down, crouching down as she snuck past the window. Once at the file cabinet, she started picking the lock. It took a while, but finally she managed to-

"Don't move." She could feel a gun pressed against the back of her head.

She gulped. "Let me turn around."

"Why?" The man asked softly.

"I'm not about to die tonight. I want to negotiate." She whispered back.

"You've got 10 seconds to make your point."

She exhaled silently, then turned.

"MC?" Seven asked, shocked.

"S-Sevvy?"

He lowered the gun instinctively. "What the hell-"

"Fuck!" She squeaked as she punched him. It hit him square in the jaw and sent him flying to the other wall. She winced, then watched to see if he would get up...

...

He was breathing.

But he was not getting up any time soon.

She bit her lip and stared at him for a minute. She had just decked her crush.

She quickly turned and grabbed the file, then bolted back up into the vent. Quickly, she crawled back out onto the roof. Once there, she sat down.

She really was in deep shit now.

Reluctantly, she stood. In the same fashion as before, she took a running leap and jumped onto the roof of the bakery. She climbed down the fire escape, then trudged down the street towards the "getaway car".

Sliding open the door, she slipped into the way back seat.

"How'd it go?" The driver asked.

"Uh..." She thought back to Seven again, lying limp on the floor in that room. He wasn't safe there, he was bound to get jumped by someone at her agency.

"MC?"

"It uh... Went fine. I got the file. A few complications, but no biggie." She faked a smile. The driver smiled back, then went back to watching the road. She leaned against the window and stared at the nearby buildings.

She really fucked up, didn't she.
