[A/N: I bought Another Story a few days ago, that's part of a quote from V lol]
MC sat at her desk, swiveling back and forth unconsciously. She was definitely waiting too long to invite guests. Who could she invite? She could invite her boss... Or maybe the other members would give her recommendations? Well, she wasn't making a good impression right now, maybe it would be best if she found guests herself.
She compiled a list of people that would be nice to have at the party (each one complimenting either herself or an RFA member's personality), then started sending out emails. She got a few responses back, which she answered, but she'd have to wait for a bit for the others to respond.
In the meantime, she decided to do some work. She was at her job. What did she have to do... Oh. The punching incident. She had more paperwork to do, and a meeting to go to later, all because she made a little mistake. A little mistake that wasn't even going to go anywhere, and she knew that for a fact. If only she could explain to her boss...
It was time for the meeting. She gathered her stuff and made her way into the meeting room, taking her seat towards the back. It was boring. She had been to one of these before, though not because she was the one who made a mistake. She knew the drill- no more big assignments for a month or so.
Her mind wandered to the guests. She still wanted to gather a few more, but she didn't know if that would be possible. However, a small party wouldn't really be bad, right? If anything it meant more room for dancing, which she assumed there would be a little of. No rave-like dancing, for sure, but maybe some ballroom dancing... No. Maybe not. But it was fun to imagine. She could practically see herself asking Seven to dance... Him placing his hands on her... Their soft rocking in sync as the music swayed them... This all sounded like some weird euphemism. She had to start over.
She spent the rest of the meeting "rewording" her daydream until it was perfect, and her heart was practically on fire. Most likely, none of her dreams would come to life, but she could only hope.
"MC." Her boss said.
"Yes?"
"I want to talk to you. Everyone else, you're dismissed." He said with a wave of his hand. Everyone stood and started walking out, but MC stood to face her boss at the same level.
"What do you need?" She asked.
"You know you have to pay attention, right?"
She sighed defeatedly, "We've had this meeting dozens of times since I got hired. Don't you think I would know the drill by now?"
"There's the fact that the procedures get slightly updated every year, but that's not the problem. MC, you were the one who made the mistake this time. You have to be more careful."
"I know! I can take care of it!" She argued.
"Not with that 'head-in-the-clouds' attitude you've been sporting all day." He pointed out. "You're sinking."
"I'm not sinking, I'm having a weird week." She retaliated. "If I'm that bad, why don't you fire me?"
He sighed. The silence scared her more than she would expect.
"No, I won't fire you." He finally admitted.
A wave of relief washed over her.
"But," He continued," If you're really going to be such a shitty employee for a while, I think it'd be best if you just distanced yourself from work."
"Huh?" She asked.
"Go home. Don't come back until I tell you to. I'll continue to pay you but... Just go home."
She was taken aback. "R-Right now?"
He nodded. She stood there for a moment, then nodded and walked back over to her desk. She grabbed everything she thought she would need and stuffed it in her bag. Then, she walked out the door.
It was strange to be out so soon, and it was strange to finally have so much free time. It all seemed to hit her on the walk home, which was fine because it meant she could think of plans. The most important thing on her mind, though, was the party. She would finally be able to be a good party-coordinator. She had been slacking, and she could finally make up for it.
She walked into the apartment and set her stuff down on the floor. Just as she did, her phone buzzed. Curious, she pulled it out.
She smiled. She had a new guest coming.
