so today's the most important day of my life
GRADUATION DAY
i'm finally graduating high school and by next year i'll be in Massachusetts studying math at Harvard lol why not
i'm honestly so scared about today
i'm the valedictorian and so i need to make a speech
i wrote one but i don't know if it's good enough
i don't want to make a fool of myself on my last day seeing all those assholes
my mom and dad are flying back here to see it and i'm so happy
i haven't seen them in forever and i'm glad they can make it
they didn't know if they were gonna be able to take off time at work but luckily they did
i'm now practicing my speech for the 15th time and i get a knock at my door
"come in" i say and it opens
"are you ready to go?" my mom asks
"not at all i'm so scared"
"don't worry it's going to go great. you have an amazing speech and everyone's going to love it"
"i hope they do. i'm just scared for the middle when i talk about my relationship"
"what did you say"
"i said how even when i was upset and hurting about what my ex would do i would still focus on math showing my determination. i said a little more but"
"i think that's amazing. you know not many people talk about their bad relationships. but you're so open about it which is good"
"well i don't want people to think they can't tell people when something bad happens to them by another person"
"i agree and i'm so proud of you. you know your cousin told me the things he did why didn't you tell me"
"well then you would've told Dad and he would've hurt someone"
"true. other than with his words and hand did he hurt you in any other way you know..." she asks and i look down
"i don't want to talk about it"
"did he"
"mom please i said i don't want to talk about it"
"okay okay you know you can tell me anything"
"yes i know but this barely even counts"
"what happened"
"ugh fine. we just were kissing and he started wanting more and i didn't want to but... we did"
"i'm so sorry honey. when was this"
"i don't remember can we just stop talking about it"
"im sorry i just wanted to know more cause you're my daughter and i like knowing about your life"
"well i only want you to know the good parts. i feel like a disappointment when you know about that bad stuff"
"you are not a disappointment at all you are an amazing person and daughter who is graduating very very soon and is going to be late so let's go!"
