Perfection

Someone answered my wish today... well at least I think they did...

I'll start from the beginning. This morning I woke up when the sun rose - Rito warriors don't train on a Sunday, lucky for me. I really wanted to get this gale perfected. No-one bothered me, but to be fair, it was very early in the morning.

I got to the Flight Range quickly, and began my training. I did not hear the click of horse's hooves on the rock beneath the snow that covers these mountains, I was too focused. It felt like an art.. the art of a creating an updraft that allows me to soar! I had just landed from a failed gale, cursing about not staying in the whirlwind for long enough when I saw the princess standing there.

I felt honored! The princess of Hyrule...  what need would she have to visit me? But I decided to play it sly... maybe she was going to tell me I was to be executed for working with Calamity Ganon.

"You know, your highness." I said, getting up from the ground. My knees almost buckled as I stood up, but I held my ground. "It's rude to eavesdrop."

"My apologies." the princess said, ever so regal as she always seems. "I went to the village, and was told I could find you here."

Who blabbed? I thought. Never mind. What does she- Oh!

"You have need of me... " I smiled. "To defeat Calamity Ganon." Or to be executed.

"To slay the beast for once and for all... it would be my great pleasure."

The princess seemed surprised, almost like I had guessed it bang on... "Thank you, Revali. If we work together, I'm certain we will be able to defeat the Calamity. You, me and the knight with the-"

"However!" I interrupted. Knight? He seems important... I have worked for this... Let's show them, Revali!

I felt the confidence rush through me, something new to me... I'd never felt this before. I created the updraft... and flew into it... and the eye of the whirlwind... it- I stayed in it.

I wanted to cry out with joy! I'd done it! But I needed to prove to the princess I was strong... confident. Better than that silly knight.

With expert eyes I scanned the flight range and felt for the bomb arrows in my quiver. Those three targets...

As I fell, three bombs arrows slid into the bow. I held my breath... and fired.

Guess what? I hit all the targets. With a rush of excitement I launched off the bottom of the Flight Range and hit more targets, listening to the echoes of the targets bursting. I hit every target in the Flight Range, and felt the echoes of exhilaration as I landed on the edge of hut and turned to face the princess.

"I know I must play a big part in this, princess..." I said, and then my beak turned upward into a grin. "Otherwise you wouldn't have chosen me for this task."

I looked her right in her beautiful emerald eyes. She looked worried - was I going to refuse? Or change my mind?

"Well, if the other people you need for this lose their confidence after seeing me in action... don't come crying to me." I looked at her cheekily. The princess started giggling, and I started too, by the time the princess was to leave, neither of us could hear the guards call her as we were too busy laughing. I waved her goodbye, and sat at the edge of the hut, feeling something new.

Have I... could I possibly have... My eyes rose to the sky above me, beautiful and clear.

Have I made a friend?
