A New Life

I have been living in Vah Medoh for a few days now. I was planning to go around, you know, see some sights, but I have found a place to live.

After I was banished, I went around – of course, Gerudo Town refused me; I didn't have any fire-proof elixir for Goron City; Lurelin Village was too far, Medoh would need too much rest and I needed a home now. So eventually, although I was embarrassed, I went to Zora's Domain and asked for a home.

The king was kind and understanding, he told me that maybe I could live nearby on Vah Medoh, and come to the village each day for food and items. I was just discussing the conditions of my stay with the king when Mipha walked in. She seemed surprised, and didn't appear to be listening when her father tried to explain. He told the two of us to find a good place for Medoh, perhaps near Ruta. We walked off in silence.

Mipha didn't really seem like she wanted to talk... she seemed sad, and on edge a bit. I kept quiet, until she asked "Why were you banished?"

Her eyes looked tired, she seemed a bit stressed. I thought the life of a princess was magical, you know, fairy tale stuff, but here it seems is proof that maybe it's not all it's cracked up to be.

"I-I don't really know, honestly. Nobody liked me all that much in the village anyway, and this kid I had been teaching, Kass, was banished too. I hope he goes on... maybe he'll have child, who'll also be a musician. But he was caught going to Hebra – kids aren't allowed there. Maybe that's why I was banished, for taking him there."

Mipha nodded, and the conversation trailed off. We continued walking until we made it to Vah Ruta, Medoh high in the sky above me.

Mipha gestured to a point in the Mountains above. "Medoh can rest on Shatterback Point. There is a friendly Lynel that lives there... be polite to him, please. It's been tough for him lately, he's worried he's going to become a slave to Ganon against his will, like his friends."

I have always been scared of Lynels, but when I went up there, the Lynel nodded at me happily. Lynels don't speak Hylian, so I nodded back. Vah Medoh had already landed at the peak. I surveyed the scene in front of me. It was beautiful... the reservoir's waters glinted happily in the sunshine, and Vah Ruta sprayed water into the air every now and again, simulating happiness. I smiled to myself. Maybe I can really make a-

"Nice, isn't it?" I jumped about a mile in the air. "Mipha! You scared me." I laughed.

She smiled, and giggled. "Do you want me to take you around Vah Medoh?" I asked.

Mipha looked a little nervous, but curiosity clearly got the better of her because she nodded enthusiastically. I walked up to Medoh, begging with my thoughts for Vah Medoh NOT to spill all the secrets I'd told her. Especially not the one about Mipha.

We walked inside and Mipha remained quiet throughout the whole journey. I showed her to the Main Control unit, almost set off the laser and almost fell off Medoh, but it was fun. I felt like I was getting to know Mipha better, maybe we could be friends...

Or more than friends. The evil little voice in my head laughed.
