I was supposed to post a different one shot but the new episode inspired me so have this one. The other one will be out soon :)

There was a soft knock on his room door. Roman didn't answer. He really didn't feel like talking. He'd thought he had meant something, that he was worth something. Alas he had learned that he was no better than his brother. He had tried to be but turns out he's just as bad. He was curled in the fetal position. He wasn't crying. No it was worse. He was filled with internal dread. A complete loss of hope or joy.

Roman was so busy drowning in his thoughts he didn't notice the door creaking open. He only realised someone's presence when the bed dipped beside him. He thought it was probably Patton. He had already tried to talk to him but Roman had fled to his room. He didn't want to see Patton so he ignored the other person.

"Roman."

Roman tensed. That wasn't Patton. Slowly, he sat up and through the darkness of the room he saw Virgil looking at him.

Roman looked at him blankly "what?"

Virgil had expected that response "Patton filled me in, told me everything."

"Yeah well tell me where were you?" Roman snapped but there was no real venom in his voice, Virgil recognised that.

"Sorry" Virgil apologised sincerely "it's been kinda hard to be around Thomas recently. Anyway this isn't about me."

"What's it about then?" Roman said though he knew.

"Roman what Deceit said isn't true" Virgil started but was cut off.

"Janus actually" Roman corrected.

"Oh he said his name" Virgil said "that's surprising. I didn't think he would ever."

"Did Patton not tell you?" Roman frowned "you said he told you everything."

"I only asked about you" Virgil confessed.

Roman was taken back slightly but composed himself "why? I am fine."

"Look Roman What De- Janus said about you isn't true" Virgil said.

"He said a lot of things be more specific" Roman tried to dodge the inevitable.

"Roman" The emotion in Virgil's voice was seeping through "you are nothing like your brother."

"That's not true" Roman denied "I always thought I was the good creativity but it turns out I'm just as bad as he is."

"Roma-" Virgil reaches for Roman's hand but he pulled away.

"What Virgil?! I'm hurting Thomas. Patton is hurting Thomas and I'm supposed to be okay with that? I'm supposed to be okay that Deceit is leading the way now?" Roman exclaimed "he's evil!"

"You don't know that" Virgil reasoned.

"He's a dark side!"

"So was I."

There was silence. The two just looked at each other. That was until Roman let out a sigh.

"I- I'm sorry Virgil" Roman sounded frustrated.

"It's okay" Virgil hadn't really been offended. Roman and lashed out and he understood that. He could empathise with Roman, he knew how hard it is to accept yourself when other can't. He knew how it felt to overrun by insecurities and dark thoughts. To feel like a villain.

"It's just" Roman let out an exasperated sigh "I thought I was his hero."

"Roman you are" Virgil reaches out for his hand and this time Roman didn't flinch away "and you're my hero."

"I'm sorry you have to put up with me" Roman felt water pool in his eyes.

"Can I tell you something?" Virgil asked as he squeezed Roman's hand.

Roman nodded.

"I have had the best of both worlds" Virgil began.

"Hannah Montana" Roman butted in, smiling softly.

"Thought you'd like that" Virgil responded and continued "like I was saying I've been with both sides. When I was with the dark sides Remus was overwhelming. He would say things to me that would make me feel awful. He was loud and obnoxious. Just a real pain in my ass. Roman when I met you you were overwhelming."

Roman felt his heart sink. Not Virgil anyone could think bad things about him but not Virgil.

"You were loud and obnoxious. Just a real pain in my ass. And then I got to know you and I quickly learned something" Virgil smiled "you were overwhelming in the best way. With your amazing ideas, kind heart, bravery and love... when you told me I made us better I realised you are so far from your brother. Even when the cameras were off, when the video was done you made me feel welcomed. You even organised a movie night for the four of us."

"So many Disney movies" Roman chuckled "we did bond that night."

"Roman that meant so much to me" Virgil smiled "Remus never made me feel welcome. You made me feel like the most special thing in the universe."

Roman let his head fall on Virgil's shoulder.

"And look Ro" Virgil said "we all want what is best for Thomas. Sometimes we are wrong but that's okay. Thomas loves you Roman he's just learning to accept new parts of himself. You are always going to be his prince. Without you he's incomplete."

Thats when Roman finally let tears fall. Virgil pulled him closer and before Roman knew it he was sobbing into Virgil's chest. Virgil rubbed soothing patterns into Roman's back and whispered loving thoughts into his ear.

He was crying now and it felt good to let it out. The truth is Roman isn't fine. He's still scared and insecure but he has Virgil with him and Virgil would stop at nothing to make Roman realise how amazing he is.

Roman had tired himself out with the crying and soon fell asleep leaning against Virgil. Virgil positioned them so that they were laying down and held Roman close.

"We love you Ro" Virgil whispered in the darkness "god I love you so much."

They have each other. They're going to be okay.
