CASS DIDN'T SPEAK AS SHE LIMPED THROUGH THE CAMERON'S BACKYARD, her leg aching with every stride but her anger was enough to push the pain to the back of her mind. She wasn't going to beg Rafe for a ride after he had busted into her business, even if that meant she had to walk all the way home.

She had just made it around the house and onto the driveway when she heard somebody jogging up behind her. Preparing to attack Rafe yet again, Cass spun on her heel but froze at the sight of Topper, her mouth falling in a frown as she spun around again.

"Cassidy, I heard what happened," Topper called out, jogging yet again to match her pace as she kept moving. She didn't know why he was bothering to talk to her after she had made it abundantly clear that she was done with him. "Yeah," was all she said, stepping into the street as Topper grabbed her arm to prevent her from moving.

"Let me give you a ride home, you're gonna pull your stitches," he offered, a small smile laid perfectly on his face as he looked down at her. Cass didn't want to get in the car with him but she knew he was right and her meds were starting to wear off, the pain ever growing the more she moved.

She nodded, following him back towards the jeep as he opened the door and lifted her up, jogging to the other side as he made his own way into the car. He pulled out of the driveway and made his way towards her house, no words spoken between the two of them until Cassidy finally realized that they had passed her street and he was still driving.

"Where are we—"

"Why are you done, Cass?" Topper cut her off, her panic growing at the emotionless tone of his voice. It was like there was a switch in his head that never seemed to turn on. He didn't feel the emotions that he was supposed to feel.

Cass jerked the handle of the car knowing damn well that they were going far too fast for her to jump without getting hurt, her heart racing as he continued to drive. "Topper, I-I just want to go home. Please take me home," she whispered, flinching when he laughed at her request.

"You know, I was in love with you, once. I really was. But then your mom killed herself and you shut everyone out except Rafe. You replaced me like I was nothing," Topper didn't hesitate to bring up the one thing that she had always hated to hear. She never believed that Renee had killed herself no matter what the proof said, her mother wouldn't leave her like that.

"Topper—"

"It's weird, Cass. You pushed me away for him and you don't even like him. Maybe you just liked the attention he gave you. You were always a sucker for attention. I never did understand why he let her treat him like he was dog shit on the bottom of your shoe but, hey, if that's what Rafe likes, that's fine by me."

Cassidy was barely breathing now. Her body was curled up against the side of the door as the car continued to move, Topper's attention never once leaving the road as he spoke but he knew that she was listening. The second she had realized that he had moved on to Sarah, she started listening.
