AFTER THEY HAD PARTED WAYS, JJ HAD STOLEN THE VAN YET AGAIN TO DRIVE CASS HOME. He pulled into the driveway and shared a look with Pope when they saw the area void of any cars, silently cursing the boy for having tagged along.

If he had been alone with Cass, there was no chance in hell that he would have let the girl walk into the house without him. He was craving the physical connection with her and he could tell by the way she slumped in her seat, she felt the same thing.

"Way to be a cock block, Pope."

Pope choked on his breath at the girls words, shocked that something so crude had come out of her mouth. Had it come from JJ, he wouldn't have batted an eye but the way that Cassidy spoke, mimicking the boys words, it just sounded so wrong.

"Yeah, for real dude. You couldn't just stay with Kie until I got back?" JJ groaned, debating if he was enough of an ass to leave Pope inside the car and go inside anyways.

There was had been an unspoken tension between the teens after they had found the Royal Merchant and realized that the gold was gone. Everyone had just lost hope and what JJ needed more than anything was a little pick me up to fix his mood. He craved a distraction and Cassidy was the best one yet.

"Is sex all you guys think about?" Pope scoffed, leaning back in his seat as he glared towards them. They shared a look and then nodded, turning their attention back towards the boy.

"Kinda," They spoke in unison, a small grin breaking out on both of their faces as they laughed. "There's so much more to a relationship than just sex, you know," Pope scoffed again, missing the way that all amusement fell from the situation at his words.

JJ met the blondes eyes and looked away almost instantly, clearly uncomfortable with what his friend had said. He hadn't ever really thought about what he and Cass were. He knew what he felt for her had never been felt by him before but they hadn't ever talked about it.

Cass, on the other hand, took his silence as a blow to the face. She didn't know why it hurt so badly but it had and so she coughed awkwardly and got out of the van, muttering a quiet, "Bye guys," before she made her way up the driveway and disappeared in the house.

JJ groaned and slammed his head against the seat, his eyes closed in aggravation as Pope made his way into Cassidy's vacant spot. "What was that about?"

His friend didn't answer as he backed out of the driveway, his attention focused on the road as he replayed the moment that just happened over and over again in his mind. He should've just went along with what Pope had said. He had never had a girlfriend but Cassidy Blaire was as close as he knew he could get.

"You said relationship and I froze, Dude."

Pope gave him a dumbfounded look, crossing his arms over his chest. "What?" He asked, still not processing why JJ was so worked up over this. He had assumed that the two had already established that they were together.
