"WAIT, SO YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT YOU'VE BEEN SLEEPING WITH JJ MAYBANK?" Sarah's mouth dropped open in shock and she tried to hide the smile that threatened to break free at the confession. "Like JJ, the one that pulled a gun on Topper, JJ?"

Cassidy threw her head back and groaned, sipping the beer in her hand as she nodded in confirmation. She had decided to come clean to her friend after she had divulged into her own confrontation with the boy's bestfriend, John B. Apparently, Ward had fired him after he had found about about the stolen tanks and Cass looked away with guilt at the mention.

"Yes, that JJ. I don't know, Sarah. He just treated me different and it was so damn nice. Then all of a sudden, I was dirt on the bottom of his shoe," Cassidy explained more of the story as Sarah sat and listened with a small frown. Her eyes fell to her brother who had his attention focused on the girl besides her. When he saw that he was caught, Rafe rolled his eyes and turned his focus back to the game infront of him.

"I thought that you were sleeping with Rafe, honestly."

Cassidy snorted with laughter at her words and then fell silent when Sarah didn't join in, her head cocked to the side. "Oh, shit. You were serious?" Cass asked incredulously, unwrapping the bandage from her leg so that she could dip both feet into the pool. She knew that the more she messed with it, the uglier the scar would be, but her mom had told her that every scar comes with a story.

"Listen, Rafe and I are just the friends that will never pass that boundary," Cassidy shrugged, catching Rafe's eye for a second before she turned away. She had yet to come clean to him about JJ and she knew that she never would, it just wasn't something that he needed to know about her life.

"My brother is in love with you," Sarah pointed the fact out like Cassidy had never noticed and she couldn't help but laugh again. She may have been blonde but she was anything but stupid. She knew exactly what Rafe felt for her but the feelings would never be reciprocated the way they were with JJ.

"Listen, Rafe may be an asshole but I think that you guys would be decent. You could help him realize that he needs to grow up," Sarah continued, nudging her friend as the boy they spoke of made his way over towards them with a small smile.

Rafe walked like he was the king of the Island, his strides long and calculated with educated precision. He was far from unattractive, Cassidy would never say different, but there was something deeper inside him that seemed to push her away. She had tried to see him as more than a friend numerous times and it always came up short handed and unsuccessful.

When he made it over to them, Rafe gave his sister a forced smiled and held his hand out for Cass to take. She complied, standing to her feet as his hand never left his. She thought back to what JJ had said and decided, with the boy still plaguing her mind, that Rafe would be an adequate distraction that she could try to get behind. JJ had said it himself, she and Rafe were a match made in heaven.
