CASSIDY'S FEET SPLASHED IN THE WATER, EACH MOVEMENT sending a tidal wave of pain throughout her body. She had refused to look at herself in the mirror when she woke up. Too afraid to see the damage that Rafe had done to her body.

She knew that if the mental agony she had endured was mirrored on the outside, it was something she wanted to ignore for as long as she could. In fact, she had struggled to put on a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie, the hood thrown over her head despite the blistering heat outside.

So she did what she always did when she was broken; kicked at the water and watched the ripples fade into nothing. She often wished that she could do the same.

She was so involved in her thoughts that she hadn't heard Kiara approaching until the girl sat down besides her, nudging her body with her own. The move was gentle but Cassidy, nonetheless, winced and let out a soft cry of pain.

Her head remained straight, her heart pounding in her chest as she awaited Kiara to see the bruises that tainted her skin. She hadn't covered them, or even attempted too, and so there was no hiding them from the girl besides her.

"Hey," Kiara greeted quietly, slightly confused as to why Cassidy was dressed like it was ready to snow. She was nearly dying and she had on a tank top and shorts, proper atire for the weather.

Kiara frowned when Cassidy didn't answer, her eyes still stuck to the water infront of her as she continued to kick her feet. She felt like she was going to have a heart attack; she just wanted to be alone like she had grown used to being.

"Cassidy—"

Cassidy lurched away as Kiara reached out to grab her arm, the movement causing her hood to fall enough for the girl to see exactly why she had been hiding.

At the sight, Kiara felt like she was going to be sick.

Deep purple bruises covered the majority of the left side of Cassidy's face, her lip busted enough that another bruise had formed around the cut. Her eye was nearly black in color, popping emmensly against her pale complexion.

"Jesus Christ," Kiara whispered, instantly on her feet. She was absolutely horrified at what she saw. Sure, she had seen JJ covered in bruises but they had never been this bad. Cassidy looked as if she had crawled away from death and barely survived.

"Kie—"

"Who the fuck did this to you? W-W the fuck? W-We need to go to Peterkins," Kiara stuttered, struggling for the ability to breathe. She was heartbroken and it hadn't even been her that had been beaten.

"No! No cops," Cassidy shrieked, crying out again when she found her way to her feet. She grabbed at her stomach, wincing at the mere amount of pressure.
