Love That Never Fails

3. In His Image

As we consider God's love, seen in His Creation, it is wonderful to pause and think about the very special moment when He made man and woman. Everything else had been made and put into place —in fact, things were looking pretty spectacular from the landscape and vegetation, to the vast array of living creatures.

It must have brought God great joy to make the first man and to see him interacting with the perfect environment He had created! God even planned things so that Adam had plenty to keep him busy and he wouldn't be lonely, as God provided woman to be his companion! Notice that they were not just thrown together but lovingly made in His own image!

"Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:26-27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This is so special! You and I are God's image bearers! That's how much He loves us! He cares about how we form our self image. God wants us to know we are loved as we look at our hands and consider that there is no other person on earth with exactly the same finger prints!

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."   Psalms‬ ‭139:13-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Our unique connection to our Creator doesn't end there! We are incredibly blessed because we were made for relationship —relationship with each other but most importantly, relationship with our Maker. You see, we were created through Him and for Him. God delights in us!

"For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him."
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!"  1 John‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let's pray:

Dear Lord,

As I look in the mirror today, before I start complaining about various aspects of my anatomy, help me to remember that I am made in Your image! Thank You for creating me for relationship with others and especially for a relationship withYou.

I will just rejoice in being in Your Presence right now before the busyness of the day ahead. Like a child sitting contentedly on it's father's lap, I will just sit and enjoy Your company for a few moments, remembering how much You love me...............

Thank You for this incredible connection and for the earthly family I have also been given. You truly are amazing! I love You and look forward to using the creativity You have given me as I serve You today.
