How do you feel after a big successful event? Quite often I feel like singing or dancing but I'm sure that nothing could come close to how the Israelites felt as a people, being free after 430 years of captivity! It's no wonder they sang this song of praise to the Lord:
"Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord:
"I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea. "The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name."
Exodus 15:1-3 NIV
How often do we forget to exalt our God for all He has done in our lives? Can you say that He is your strength and defence? Can you say that He is your salvation?
"Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? "You stretch out your right hand, and the earth swallows your enemies. In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling."
Exodus 15:11-13 NIV
How wonderful it was, that these people could see the very heart of God —His unfailing love. This was not just unfailing love in this current victory but unfailing love projected to the future as they were sure He would continue to lead them. As you look at the ways God has shown His unfailing love to you, respond with confident praise, knowing the blessing of His leadership in Your situation will continue. You can be sure that we worship a God who is consistently loving us —His love never fails, even though sometimes it takes a while for us to see the bigger picture!
I love the way that the passage mentions Miriam, the sister of Aaron and of course the one who patiently waited by the river when her baby brother Moses floated along in his basket so many years ago. She obediently helped save his life back then and now he had obeyed God so all their lives could be saved! No wonder Miriam joyfully led the women in celebration:
"Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron's sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing."
Exodus 15:20 NIV
You can read the whole song of praise in Exodus 15 but the wonderful conclusion of the song sums up the sentiments of this most amazing time in the history of God's chosen people:
""The Lord reigns for ever and ever.""

Can you say this? Have you put Jesus on the throne of Your life? You can be sure He wants that place of authority in your life and in His unfailing love, He will reign and lead you in victory, all the days of your life!

Dear Lord,
It's so good to read this song of praise which spontaneously flowed from the mouths of the Israelites. You are such an amazing God, always leading us faithfully and bringing us the victory we need in our lives at just the right time. Lord I am so awestruck at Your unfailing love which You have demonstrated over and over again. Today with Your help, I seek to remember that You are my God and I will worship You. Jesus You have all authority —I have placed You on the throne of my life and I am excited to watch You reign forever!
