81. How Majestic Is Your Name

The book of Psalms is possibly the most visited book of the Bible! With a variety of authors, written over many years, it lets us see the intricate relationship between God and people. To many it's a book of praise for joyous occasions but it also takes us through the valley and back up again. Psalms reminds us that it's okay to bear your emotions before the Lord and to ask for help. We can come before our loving God, knowing that He hears us and we can lay all our burdens before Him. God's power, love and forgiveness are highlighted again and again, bringing comfort, hope and peace to our hearts.

For the purposes of this book, we will just visit a few Psalms over the coming days and enjoy being uplifted at this time. First let's focus on God's majesty and the greatness of His Name:

"Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.

Now David, the Psalmist, moves onto considering all God has made and compares the greatness of the universe to us humans! How special we are to Him that He lovingly cares for each of us and crowns us with glory!

When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild,
the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"

How precious we are to our Father and look at how He trusts us to be rulers over everything He created! Do we take this job seriously? It's something to think about!

There are many famous names in the world but David reminds us that God's name is majestic in all the earth! Do we give Him the honour due to His Name?

Let's pray:

Heavenly Father,

Lord, your Name truly is so great and powerful! I look at Your creation and can't help seeing Your splendour in everything You have made from the tiniest flower to the grandest mountain. It's amazing to consider that Your power and glory can even be seen in small children, even babies! Your strength is so evident in them! It's in them that we see the miracle of life and You the almighty Life Giver!

Thank You for showing me how much You care for us all as Your children. I lift up Your Name today and give You all the honour, glory and praise due to Your Name.
