25. Are You Tired?

This season of change has brought many challenges and despite the fact we have generally had more time to rest, somehow, many of us are feeling tired. Perhaps it's just the fact that we are needing to come to terms with so many new things—nothing is quite the same! For many, whether we are working in the home, back in the workplace or trying to find a new job, now more than ever, we need the support of others to get through the fallout of COVID-19!

Moses had already experienced many challenges in his new job in leading the Israelites from Egypt to the land God had for them. Now as the Amalekites attacked, Moses was feeling tired. Look at how he gets through this situation:

"The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, "Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands." So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. Then the Lord said to Moses, "Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.""
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭17:8-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How often have you tried to carry a burden all alone? God wants us to let others in to support us this year. Look at the great result when Moses was willing to let Aaron and Hur assist him! Imagine how things might have turned out if Moses refused to receive help when he was tired!

If you are feeling particularly tired right now, don't be afraid to reach out and allow someone to be there to support you and hold you up as God continues His work in and through you! God designed us to live in community and to love each other in practical ways.

""A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.""
‭‭John‬ ‭13:34-35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

"Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you."
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭13:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let God use you to be His hands, His feet, His voice —to be an encourager and gently hold someone up this year. We can all do so much and sometimes it just takes a phone call or message.  Ask God to guide you to who you can be there for in the coming days.

Let's pray:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for bringing me this far through the difficult days of 2020. I am especially thankful for the people in my life who have been there to support and encourage me over these months. Lord help me to resist the urge to do things alone but allow others to show Your love and be there for me.

Thank You Jesus for being the perfect example of how to love others. I pray that You would lead me to those You would have me support today. Help me to remember to come to You often in prayer as You are the One in whom I can find true rest.

""Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Amen.
