WHENEVER KATE HAD finally found Jonathan after her last class of the day, she told him the news he'd been more than anticipating.
"So, you finally came to your senses?" Jonathan asked her, not even trying to hide his smile.
"No, I'm just expected for you guys to be done before nine o'clock. That definitely leaves enough time for me to meet the girls at the Halloween party," Kate explained. "It'll be great. I'll get two wears out of the same costume."
Jonathan gave her a tight-lipped smile. "All right. I'll meet you at my house, okay?"
She nodded once. "See you soon."
Before she went to Jonathan's house that afternoon, she first dropped her car off at home. While she hadn't gone inside, she quickly scurried off before El could see her, carrying the rest of her costume in her tote bag.

It made for a lighter load in her bag, as well as being a somewhat put-together outfit (at least her hair clipped back like that made her feel more put-together). While she had also been wearing her Converse, which she wore all the time, she decided that she'd be swapping the heels Sandy wore in the move for those instead (Kate absolutely refused to wear heels if she was walking around Hawkins all night, and that was before going to a party). The only parts of her costume she bought were the thin yellow cardigan, the yellow skirt, and the white belt Sandy also wore, which had all been simple enough to find.
