KATE, BOB, AND Mike only watched Will in silence as he finally slept in peace. Even though the sun had risen, not a single one of them, except for Will, of course, had slept.
Joyce had left the three of them to watch over Will while she sat in a meeting with a few of the doctors. She hadn't wanted to leave him alone for too long, but the doctors insisted that they have the conversation in one of the conference rooms, away from Will. Since then, Kate, Bob, and Mike had been left to their own devices.
Kate had still yet to see her father. She didn't know where he had been shuffled off to, but she knew his SUV was still sitting outside, still parked as shittily as it had been the night before. She couldn't understand why she hadn't been able to see him yet. The doctors hadn't given her a solid reason, something about possible infection, something about needing to go through decontamination. She didn't care: she wanted to see her dad.
She eventually looked to Mike, who seemed physically, mentally, and emotionally drained. She couldn't remember a time when she'd seen Mike so... empty. She thought it had been that night at the hospital after Eleven had supposedly died so all of this would be over. Now that it had come back, though, and his very best friend was absolutely suffering, Mike was rightfully more than broken up about it. "Hey, bud, how're you holding up?"
He nodded sluggishly in response. "I'm okay."
She pressed her lips together, her eyebrows furrowed. "Yeah?"
