Sitting naked at a nearby dam, I just stare ahead, looking at nothing in particular. Some branches snap to my left, but I know its only Luke. He wraps a blanket around my shoulders and sits next to me saying nothing at first, but after 2 minutes he obviously needed to break the silence.
"Hunter found me whilst I was training, he told me you ran off."
Hunter.
"Mind telling me why?"
Bringing my eyes into focus, I let out a big sigh. I pick at some dirt in front of me.
"I killed his family. His future."
"Lexi, what you did as alpha meant that you protected your family."
"I wasn't alpha when I ruined everything for him."
"I don't understand."
I look at Luke, I'm pretty sure my puffy red eyes gave it away that I'm sad.
"I killed Alpha Veltri. Hunter's father."
^_^
Luke and I slowly made it back to the pack house. We spent hours in silence. He hasn't said anything since I told him that Hunter was Alpha Veltri's son.
"See ya," Luke mumbles, leaving me in front of the pack house. I look at him, before going into the pack house. A guard telling me that Dennis and Hunter had left.
I get to my room, my blank lifeless room. Oh how my room describes how I feel right now. I go to the bathroom to start some bathwater.
It's only 2 in the afternoon, children are returning from school, filling the grounds with happy chatter and laughter.
After the bathtub is full I take a quick bath and then put some gym clothes on. I run down the stairs. Mind linking to the teens to get ready for training.
I go to the little outside gym, I stretch before punching my anger into a punching bag. I keep at it until all the teens are around me. Luke also decided to see why I called them.
By the time everyone is around me, I'm a sweaty mess.
"Right, so I've neglected some alpha duties. I promised that Luke and I had some things to discuss and that some of you will be getting pack jobs."
Luke brings me a towel and stands next to me. I ignore the towel.
"Grab a partner, stretch and get practicing the basic defense moves."
The teens shuffle towards a friend and do as they are told. I walk around for a bit while everyone stretches and as soon as the first two start practicing their defense, I go to check on them. Luke following behind me.
I check on every pair, correcting them and showing them the right way. Luke clears his throat and nods to a teen who struggles to keep up with his partner.
"Alright, you two, on the mat," they look at me shocked and does as toldI walk to them and then turns to address the rest.
"This is an unlikely pair. A wolf who knows how to defend and one who doesn't. Guess which one will be a guard. Before you guess wrong, they both would be a guard."
Everyone looks confused, Luke smirking as he knows why.
"The one who knows how to defend is strong and confident. Willing to sacrifice himself for others. The other one, is shy and well, hidden. The best fighter to have." The guys on the mat, looks even more confused.
"Raise your hand if an older sibling or father or mother who's a guard, but doesn't do normal shifts" A few raise their hands.
"They are the shy, hidden guards. The fighters. We only use them when defending just isn't enough. They are our attackers. Do you know why?"
No one answers.
"Attackers defend everything. Their families, their pack, themselves. They aren't willing to give up anything. They are the ones who win the game when the others play dirty. Oh, now don't think Attackers are the best defense. The normal guards are just as important. They sacrifice themselves, defending their pack and their families. They are the ones who runs straight into fire to get attackers out alive. So without one or the other. None of us will survive."
Luke joins us on the mat.
"Congratulations you two, you are the first two to get your pack jobs. I'll arrange for you two to get trained right and that you be put on a schedule. The rest of you, you can leave or you can keep practicing."
Luke and I turn to the two on the mat. Telling them the next steps and that they will be sparing us when they get to practicing because the weakest member should be stronger than the beta and the alpha.
....
Long time since an update, but I'm getting there.
