I snort at Hunter's text and go back to concentrating on training.

My phone vibrates again and I look to check and see an S.O.S. message from Hunter. Worried, I dash off and mind link my father that I need to go.

When I get to the Moonsky pack, I hurry towards the pack house, bolting up the stairs and towards Lexi. Hunter is sitting beside her, holding her hand. She is still asleep and unmoving.

"Dude, what the hell?" I say, getting Hunter's attention. He stands up and motions me to sit.

"Check if you spot something different." he says and runs his fingers through his hair.

I look at Lexi, taking in every inch of her beauty. I smile softly and touches her face.

"There is nothing wrong." I say and I earn a snort from Hunter.

"Look at our marks." And I do, slightly confused as I don't see it. Maybe I confused myself with left and right, but it's nowhere to be seen.

Luke comes in and stands still in the middle of the room.

"Well, I called the wizard, he is on his way. He said she might have rejected both of marks." He says, ending in a whisper.

"But if she rejects our marks, she is going to die." I say, Hunter flinching at the words. Luke nods.

So it is known that when a female wolf rejects the mark of a mate or a mark of someone who isn't her mate, she never lives to see another day.

I swallow hard. Realisation hitting me like a brick.

"Wait wait," Hunter begins, "what if she rejected one of our marks and her body just removed the other one by accident?"

He is trying to make sense of the situation. Luke shakes his head.

"The body would know the real mark and not remove it. I'm sorry guys, but neither of you are her mate and you just killed my alpha, so please just leave."

Hunter sighs and walks out her room, Luke glares at me, I follow Hunter and we both just go sit in the living room.

The wizard came and immediately went up to see Alexis. Hunter and I still in silence in the living room.

I look around, not able to carry the dread anymore.

"Dude, what's with the play pen?" I ask, raising a questioning brow.

"Oh," Hunter lets out a chuckle, "I was on babysitting duty with Martha's triplets."

"So you were stuck with them in that little plastic thing?" I say, holding in a snicker.

"Laugh it out dude, babysitting gets you all the girls."

With Hunter's permission, I burst out laughing, him chuckling along. He clears his throat.

"I might be able to become temporarily Alpha of the pack. Luke sent in a request to the King Alpha." I nod.

"I just wanted to let you know and see if it's alright, I mean even if we aren't Alexis' mates, we became pals and this pack has become both our homes."

"If you don't mess up, then you can run the pack. I think Luke and the pack is going to accept any help if Alexis passes away."

I shouldn't have said that. The mood immediately turns sour. A few minutes pass and Luke and the Wizard comes down the stair and joins us.

"So" the Wizard says, scratching his beard, "none of you are her mate and she absorbed your marks, rejecting you both as mates. I was wrong, and I apologise."

Luke gives him a look to continue.

"Fine, Alexis will make it, under strong observation. She shall travel with me to Mount Clover, where she will be treated correctly and hopefully wake up."

Hunter and I look at each other. The wizard stands up and just leaves saying nothing else.

"So to fill in the blank, Alexis will be moved tomorrow, you both can spend the night with her and say your goodbyes. Hunter, I'll speak with the King Alpha about your temporary Alpha status, we will go through with that and if all things go well over the course of a year, you might be able to fully become alpha. Brad, most things should go back to normal, we will probably just become better with pack stuff because of the whole fiasco. Any questions? None, great!" He stands up and leaves us be.

Hunter stands up and moves to go to Alexis.

"Come on, dude, let's go spend time with her. "

I get up and follow him to Alexis' room, spending whole night with her.
